Overall, there are nine steps involved in the making of chocolate. The process begins
with harvesting ripe red pods that grow on cacao trees, and ends with the creation of
complete bars of chocolate.
The first step in making chocolate is the extraction of white cacao beans from the ripe
red pods that grow on cacao trees. These white cacao beans then underwent
fermentation for a period ranging from 2 to 10 days, before being sun-dried and then
roasted at temperatures of 120 to 150 degrees Celsius.
After being roughly processed using heat, the inner parts of these roasted beans are
removed from the shell through crushing. Afterwards, the removed parts are conched,
in which they are pressed to produce a liquid. The resulting mixture is then tempered
and molded to become chocolate bars.
