The Circle of Willis (CoW) distributes oxygenated blood throughout the brain and represents the only major anastomosis of the brain. The study of variations in CoW is crucial for avoiding confusion of the anomalies with aneurysms, evaluating collateral pathways in the intracerebral circulation, and enhancing pre-operative planning in patients undergoing surgery at the skull base.

Influence of substitution of 3d metals for Mn on properties of La0.67Ca0.33Mn0.9 TM0.1O3 (TM = Fe, Co, Ni) compounds was studied. Ferromagnetic – paramagnetic and metals – insulator transitions were significantly affected by Mn-site substitution. However, no observable difference was found in their crystal structure from X-ray diffraction analysis. At room temperature the structure characterization of these compounds gave the single phase and structure is the distortion orthorhombic cell with space group symmetry Pnma.

The solution structure of a synthetic mutant type I antifreeze protein (AFP I) was determined in aqueous solution at pH 7.0 using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The mutations comprised the replacement of the four Thr residues by Val and the introduction of two additional Lys-Glu salt bridges.
