The failure of inflation targeting regimes in several emerging economies has received renewed interest among academics and policymakers alike. This ineffectiveness can be attributed to worsening fiscal positions in the aftermath of the Global Financial Crisis, which sheds light on the importance of coordinating fiscal policy and monetary policy to achieve price stability. This thesis, therefore, aims to investigate the effects of fiscal policy on the different transmission channels of monetary policy, which ultimately results in high inflation.

Based on the results combined with Vietnam’s financial integration process and monetary policy management, this thesis proposed some implications for Vietnam’s monetary policy management in financial globalization, including (i) flexible exchange rate management and building up foreign exchange reserves.

The overall objective of the thesis is to evaluate the impact of monetary and macroprudential policies on financial stability in the group of EAGLEs and each specific country in the group of EAGLEs. The research results are the scientific ideas to propose policy implications to help strengthen the financial system's stability, thereby improving the macroeconomic environment towards sustainable economic growth.

General objective: The thesis applies inflation forecasting modelling approach to support monetary policy management in Vietnam, on that basis, proposing policy recommendations to foster the application of inflation forecasting models in operating monetary policy.

The open economy faces many internal and external shocks, so the macroeconomic stability becomes the top priority goal. When the economy increasingly integrates into international economy, the central bank needs to gradually reduce using direct monetary tools and switch to using indirect ones.

The overall objective of the thesis is to evaluate the impact of monetary policy and macroprudential policy on the stability of joint stock commercial banks in Vietnam. This is important empirical evidence to suggest solutions to improve the effectiveness of the implementation of monetary policy, macroprudential policy, and promote bank stability.

The main content of this study considers the impact of monetary policy transmission through credit channels under the influence of competitiveness in Vietnamese commercial banks, thereby making policy suggestions for operating monetary policy through credit channels in competitive conditions. However, in order to fill the research gaps, the author also focuses on comparing this effect through different methods of measuring competitiveness.

Research objectives: The impact of monetary policy on Vietnam stock market with regard to two aspects which are stock price and market liquidity.

The dissertation examines the influence of foreign reserves accumulation on inflation and sterilization of the SBV to ensure the stabilization of monetary policy for social and economic development.

This study assesses the importance of monetary policy in macroeconomic stability in Vietnam through controlling the credit growth; evaluates the relevance of the new Keynes model in explaining macroeconomic fluctuations; uses the SVAR new Keynes model to evaluate the response of macro variables to the shocks of themselves; proposes the DSGE new Keynes model that serves to analyze, forecast and communicate macroeconomic’s policies in Vietnam.

The thesis will focus on analyzing and evaluating data, verify the transmission mechanism of the interest rate targeting, thereby assessing the feasibility of operation of the target rate in Vietnam, comparing empirical findings in Vietnam’s context with international evidences, and eventually recommending solutions.

The paper proposes an empirical VAR for the UK open economy in order to measure the effects of monetary policy shocks from 1981 to 2003. The identification of the VAR structure is based on short-run restrictions that are consistent with the general implications of a New Keynesian model. The identification scheme used in the paper is successful in identifying monetary policy shocks and solving the puzzles and anomalies regarding the effects of monetary policy shocks. The estimated dynamic impulse responses and the forecast error variance decompositions show a consistency with the New Keynesian approach and other available theories.

Research will focus on the basic theory in terms of liquidity management of the central bank, the status of liquidity to execute the monetary policy of the central bank by forecasting method from currency balance sheet and propose management solution on liquidity of the central bank monetary policy.
