On 28 March 2025, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar at approximately 1:10pm local time, its
epicentre located 17 kilometres southeast of Mandalay. The Sagaing (11) Mandalay regions have
both been significantly impacted. The earthquake’s impact has been felt across the region, with tremors felt as far
afield as China, India, Vietnam and Thailand. It was the most (12) earthquake to strike Myanmar
since 1912. The earthquake caused extensive (13) in Myanmar and significant damage in
neighboring Thailand. Hundreds of homes were also damaged in Yunnan, China, while more than 400 apartments
were affected in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The earthquake directly
(14) up to 5,350 people in Myanmar and 51 in Thailand, while one person died from shock in
Vietnam. Up to 11,400 people were injured and hundreds more were reported missing, including at a collapsed
construction site in Bangkok. Rescuers are still unable to reach parts of the country devastated by the quake. Some

Pollution comes in different forms. Some of them are water pollution, air pollution, land pollution, and noise
pollution. It’s a universal problem. This problem can only be solved when everybody makes an effort to do it.
There are various things we can do to make our environment better. The simplest thing is to put rubbish into
dustbins instead of littering the streets. We can reduce our daily waste too, and reduce the amount of water and
electricity we use. We should think of ways to reuse objects like bottles, cans, and paper. A plastic bottle will take
more than 500 years to decompose. So instead of throwing it away after you finish your drink, you can keep it in
the kitchen for containing water, or in the garden for growing flowers. With some colourful paper and oil paint,
you can also make beautiful toys from them.
We can also collect recyclable objects and donate them for recycling. Each one of us should act
environmentally friendly so that others will follow us. Public places like parks, schools, train stations, ... will get
cleaner if we start acting now.
