Ha Noi is the capital of Vietnam and the country's second largest city. Its population in 2009 was estimated at 2.6 million. The city is located on the right bank of the Red River. Hanoi is located at 1,760 km north of Ho Chi Minh City and at 120 km west of Hai Phong city. October 2010 officially marked 1000 years since the establishment HA NOI SATELLITE VIEW of the city
Hanoi has had many names throughout history, all of them of Sino-Vietnamese origin. During the Chinese domination of Vietnam, it was known first as Long Bien, then Tong Binh and Long Do. In 866, it was turned into a citadel and named Dai La In 1010, Ly Thai To moved the capital of Dai Viet to the site of the Dai La Citadel. New York city is located in the southeastern part of New York State. It developed at the point where the Hudson and Passaic rivers mingle with the water of the Atlantic Ocean. New York Harbour, which is ice-free in all seasons, is one of the largest and finest in the world. With a Census-estimated population of over 8.3 million in 2012, this city is the most populous city in the United States Additionally, with the total area of 946 square km, New York is the largest city in the US.
The city was founded by the Dutch in 1624. At first, it was called Fort Amsterdam, and then New Amsterdam. In 1664, the English took over the city and renamed it New York. New Work is a very unusual city. Although it is not the capital of the country, it is the home of the United Nations and the centre of global finance, communication and business NEW YORK CITY HALL
AN OVERVIEW OF NEW YORK New Yorkers are people who come from all over the world. The city is characterised by its hundreds of tall offices and apartment buildings, some of which are among the tallest buildings in the world. Visitors to New York are all attracted by places such as the Statue Of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Wall Street, and the Broadway theatre district. New York is also the place where tourists can visit some world famous art galleries and museums
THE STATUE OF LIBERTY The Statue of Liberty is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, designed by Frédéric Bartholdi and dedicated on October 28, 1886.
The statue, a gift to the United States from the people of France, is of a robed female figure representing Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, who bears a torch and a tabula ansata (a tablet evoking the law) upon which is inscribed the date of the American Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776. A broken chain lies at her feet. The statue is an icon of freedom and of the United States: a welcoming signal to immigrants arriving from abroad.
