Factors affecting Vietnamese EFL teachers' integration of ICT in English language teaching: A qualitative inquiry

This qualitative study scrutinize scommon factors influencing ICT integration among university-level EFL teachers in a Vietnamese context. Drawing on semi-structured interviews with six instructors, this study identified four primary determinants: teachers' attitudes toward ICT integration, digital literacy, technological infrastructure, and institutional support.

Data was analyzed based on color-coded themes, which results in four significant findings: (1), the diversity of children’s oral language functions; (2), the Participant and Spectator roles of language in connection to embedded speech and displaced speech; (3), the interaction of Girl Talk and Boy Talk; and (4), the children’s peer support through Zone of Proximal Development.

This study examines teachers’ attitudes towards the correction of spoken errors through one-to-one interviews and a belief questionnaire. Doctor of philosophy thesis in Theory and methodology of English language teaching: Integrating culture into teaching English at upper secondary schools in Tra Vinh, Vietnam
The research was expected to have the following potential outcomes. First, prior the positive change in EFL teaching with a better positionality of intercultural education, an investigation into teachers’ perceptions and practices would provide educational managers with evaluative feedback on the existing status of intercultural integration. Second, it might raise awareness of participating teachers and students on the role of culture in EFL education. Third, a trial implementation of an intercultural teaching approach would enhance teachers’ practice of intercultural integration with more applicable strategies to deal with culture input included in their EFL lessons. All in all, this research is hoped to contribute to the efficacy of intercultural integration, which is considered as a part of English teaching reform.
