The presence of bacteria on periodontal ligament cells in different storage environments for teeth after displacement from the alveolar bone: preliminary in vitro research results
Teeth displaced from their alveolar bone can be replanted if properly handled and stored in suitable environments. To help minimize the failure of reimplantation, teeth should be preserved in a storage environment that is initially free of bacteria. Research objective: Evaluating the morphology of bacteria on the periodontal ligament cells in different storage environments at various time points after the teeth have been removed from the alveolar bone using Gram staining.

Investigation of the antifungal activity of Lactobacillus against Aspergillus Niger and Penicillium Oxalicum
The study investigated the antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger CBS 76997 and Penicillium oxalicum 20B of several Lactobacillus strains (LAB). The in vitro antifungal activity of cell-free supernatants and biomass of Lactobacillus strains against the growth of A. niger CBS 76997 and P. oxalicum 20B was determined by monitoring the fungal colony diameter over time by spot inoculation method and double layer method.

Isolation and screening of histamine-producing bacteria from the first six months of the Cat Hai fish sauce fermentation process
In this study, Cat Hai fish sauce, one of the major traditional fish sauce manufacturers in Vietnam, was used to investigate the variation in histamine content during the fermentation process and to isolate histamine-producing bacteria. Six Dich Chuop samples corresponding to the first sixth months from the beginning of fermentation were collected for these purposes.

Metagenomic characterization of archaeal and bacterial communities associated with coral, sediment, and seawater in a coral reef ecosystem of Phu Quoc island, Vietnam
Recent advancements in metagenomics, particularly in the studies of conservative 16S rRNA sequences, have significantly accelerated our understanding of the relationship between corals and their associated microbial communities. While bacteria are known to be closely linked with corals, there is limited understanding of the connections between archaea and corals. Unlike previous 16S rRNA studies conducted in similar tropical coral reef ecosystems, we analyzed both the archaeal and bacterial communities associated with Acropora sp. and Lobophyllia sp. corals, as well as the surrounding sediment and water columns in Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang Province, Vietnam.

Zinc effects on oxidative physiology of oral bacteria
Zinc is used as an anti-gingivitis agent in oral care products and affects multiple targets in oral bacteria. We found that it acts also to suppress respiration of oral streptococci and of Fusobacterium nucleatum, an organism associated with development of gingivitis.

Study on treatment of alkaline black liquor using sulphate reducing bacteria
Alkaline pulping liquors are the problematic for environment due to their toxicity and poor biodegradability. During last decade, anaerobic treatment technology has been successfully applied to various types of pulp and paper industry effluents. In the present study, the treatment of highly toxic pulping liquors in lab-scale has been done using sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) isolated from sediment samples of pulp and paper mills in Vietnam. This treatment could reduce 70 - 75% of COD after three weeks. The COD removal could achieve 82 - 88% by subsequent aerobic treatment in 48 hours. COD of treated water was 80 - 90 mg/l.

Diversity of epiphytic lactic acid bacteria (LAB) on insect oviposition sites
Alternative strategies are needed in pest management to protect crops from pests. Occurrence of epiphytic lactic acid bacteria (LAB) on crop plants, especially on sites that are selected by pests, may be associated with host selection by insects. We carried out laboratory investigations as well as screen house and field experiments to understand whether epiphytic LAB occur at oviposition sites of agricultural and horticultural crops, probably modulating pest abundance by attraction or repulsion. The diversity of such epiphytic LAB associated with insect oviposition sites is discussed.
