Skin is just like a membrane that envelopes various organs in the body
• Covering the entire body surface
• Protecting the internal organs
• Maintaining dynamic equilibrium with various organs of the body by
protecting
=> Physical protection

• Immune membrane: Protects from the invasion of pathogens
• Temperature regulation: Through the network of sweat glands and
capillaries under the skin.
• Excretion: water, toxic substances, salt... through the skin's secretory
glands.
• Vitamin synthesis: vitamin D.
• Pigmentation: Melanin pigments protect against ultraviolet rays
• Sensory organs: Contains nerve endings for sensation, surface,
temperature, and pain
