A. Grammar:
I. Adverbs of manner.(Tr ng t th cách) ạ ừ ể
- Tính t : + b nghĩa cho ừ ổ danh từ
Ex: An interesting book
+ đi sau các đng t : ộ ừ get, become, look, smell, sound, taste,....
Ex: She looks happy.

Ex: She sings beautifully.

II. Adjective + that clause
S + be +Adj +that + Clause : S + V
Ex : I am happy that you had a new car.
Note: M nh đ “ that clause” đc dùng v i m t s tính t nh : ệ ề ượ ớ ộ ố ừ ư
“afraid,glad,sorry, sure,eager,anxious,happy,pleased,annoyed, proud, delighted, disappointed,…”
III. Connectives (t n i – liên t )ừ ố ừ
* And (và): dùng đ n i hai t ho c hai m nh đ có cùng giá tr . ể ố ừ ặ ệ ề ị
Ex: Lan likes cats and dogs.
* But (nh ng) : dùng đ n i hai câu có nghĩa trái ng c nhau. ư ể ố ượ
Ex: They have a lot of money, but they’re not very happy.
* So (vì th , vì v y):dùng trong m nh đ ch k t qu . Nó đng tr c m nh đ mà nó gi i thi u ế ậ ệ ề ỉ ế ả ứ ướ ệ ề ớ ệ
Ex: He’s ill so he stays at home.
* Therefore (vì th ) : dùng thay cho SO trong ti ng Anh trang tr ng ế ế ọ
Ex: The weather was too bad. Therefore, our plan had been changed.

Clause(chính) + although/even though/though + S + V ….
Ex: Although he had a bad cold , he went to class.
He went to class although he had a bad cold.
V. Relative clause ( M nh đ quan h )ệ ề ệ

Although / Though / Even though + S + V …. +, Clause(chính)
- I need to meet the boy. The boy is my friend’s son.
I need to meet the boy who is my friend’s son.
- WHOM: Dùng thay th cho c m t ch ng i , v trí b ng ( Complement)ế ụ ừ ỉ ườ ở ị ổ ữ
Ex: - The man is my teacher. Your father is talking to him.
The man whom your father is talking to is my teacher.
- WHOSE: Là đi t quan h ch s s h u . Nó thay th cho s h u c a ng i, v t (his-, her-, its-,ạ ừ ệ ỉ ự ở ữ ế ở ữ ủ ườ ậ
their-).
- This is the student. I borrowed his book.
This is the student whose book I borrowed .

- She works for a company. It makes cars.
She works for a company which makes cars .
- THAT : Dùng thay th cho WHO/WHICHế

Ex: I saw the girl. She helped us last week.
I saw the girl who/that helped us last week.
2. Non-defining Relative Clauses: MĐQH không gi i h nớ ạ
Dùng đ b nghĩa cho danh t đng tr c đã ể ổ ừ ứ ướ đc xác đnh rõượ ị , là ph n gi i thích thêm. N u b điầ ả ế ỏ
m nh đ chính v n rõ nghĩa. M nh đ này th ng đc tách kh i m nh đ chính b ng d u ph y “ệ ề ẫ ệ ề ườ ượ ỏ ệ ề ằ ấ ẩ ,”.
Ta dùng m nh đ quan h không gi i h n khi:ệ ề ệ ớ ạ
- Tr c danh t quan h có: this/that/these/those/my/her/his/…ướ ừ ệ
Ex: My father is a doctor. He is fifty years old
My father, who is fifty years old, is a doctor.
- T quan h là tên riêng ho c danh t riêng. ừ ệ ặ ừ
Ex: Mr Brown is a very nice teacher. We studied English with him.
Mr Brown, who we studied English with, is a very nice teacher.
