 Chỉ thói quen hằng ngày, những việc mà bạn thường xuyên làm:

Quy tắc

Thêm “s”vào đằng sau hầu hết động từ : live - lives, work –works Thêm “es” sau những động từ tận cùng bằng o, z, ch, sh, s, x :watch - watches, finish - finishes Bỏ “y” và thêm “ies” với động từ kết thúc bởi 1 phụ âm + y: Study - Studies; NOT: play - plaies (trước y là nguyên âm a) Động từ bất quy tắc: have - has

Dấu hiệu nhận biết

Trong câu thường có các trạng ngữ chỉ thời gian như: everyday, usually, always, sometimes, often, never, hardly, in the morning, on Mondays, at weekends, in spring, summer, today, nowadays,...

2. Adverbs of frequency (trạng từ tần suất )

( always, usually, sometimes, often, rarely, hardly, never) Chú ý:

Chúng ta thường sử dụng trạng từ tần suất với thì hiện tại đơn Trạng từ tần suất thường đứng:

- Trước động từ thường - Sau động từ tobe (is/am/are)

Cách dùng Diễn tả hành động đang xảy ra tại thời điểm nói hoặc xung quanh thời điểm nói.

Quy tắc

1 Thêm ing bình thường go => going

2 Tận cùng “e” => bỏ e + ing drive => driving

3 Tận cùng “ee” => giữ nguyên + ing see => seeing

win => winning fix => fixing

“nguyên âm + phụ âm” => gấp đôi phụ âm cuối + ing Trừ “h, w, x, y” => giữ nguyên+ ing

5 Tận cùng “ie” => y + ing die => dying

Dấu hiệu nhận biết

Trong câu thường có: now, at present, at the moment, right now, … Sau câu mệnh lệnh: Look!, Listen!, Be quite!, Be careful!, Hurry up!,…

6. Comparative adjectives

- So sánh hơn dùng để so sánh giữa hai vật, hoặc hai người.  Đối với hầu hết tính từ ngắn (tính từ có một âm tiết)

adj + er

E.g.: short -> shorter

cheap -> cheaper

S1 + tobe + adj + er + than + S2

 Đối với hầu hết tính từ dài (tính từ có hai âm tiết trở lên)

more + adj

E.g.: modern -> more modern

interesting -> more interesting

S1 + tobe + more + adj + than + S2

 Những trường hợp đặc biệt của tính từ ngắn: - Đối với những tính từ tận cùng bằng “y” -> chuyển “y” thành “i” rồi them “er”

E.g.: happy -> happier

pretty -> prettier

- Đối với những tính từ ngắn tận cùng bằng “e” -> chỉ thêm “r”

E.g.: nice -> nicer large -> larger

- Đối với những tính từ ngắn tận cùng phụ âm + nguyên âm (u,e,o,a,i) + phụ âm -> gấp đôi phụ âm cuối, rồi mới them “er”.

E.g.: big -> bigger hot -> hotter

7. Countable and uncoutable nouns

* Danh từ đếm được (countable nouns): là danh từ chỉ những người, động vật, vật thể mà chúng ta có thể đếm được bằng số đếm.

E.g.: a dog, a cat, two birds, three books, four pens, five pencil cases,… -> Danh từ đếm được có dạng số ít (singular) và dạng số nhiều (plural).

* Danh từ không đếm được (uncoutable nouns): là những danh từ chúng ta không thể đế trực tiếp bằng số đếm. E.g.: sugar, water, rice, salt, oil, English, tennis, flu, snow, wind,

- Danh từ không đếm được không có hình thức số nhiều.

- Với danh từ đếm được và danh từ không đếm được, ta có thể dùng các từ chỉ lượng để nói tới số lượng của chúng.

8. Some/ any/ much/ many/ a few/ a little

a) some/ any ( một ít/ một số/ một vài) + danh từ đếm được

danh từ không đếm được

some: dùng trong câu khẳng định any : dùng trong câu phủ định và nghi vấn

E.g: - I need some sugar.

- My friend gives me some flowers. - There isn’t any milk in the fridge. It’s empty.

b) many/ much (nhiều) - many + danh từ đếm được (số nhiều) - much + danh từ không đếm được E.g.: - My school has many students.

- I don’t have much money.

c) a few (một vài, một số)/ a little ( một ít)

- a few + danh từ đếm được (số nhiếu) - a little + danh từ không đếm được E.g.: You can see a few houses on the hill.

E.g.: We’ve got very little time before our train leaves. Hurry up!

9. Modal verbs a) must/ mustn’t - Must (phải): dùng để diễn đạt sự cần thiết, sự bắt buộc phải làm gì ở hiện tại hoặc tương

lai.

E.g.: You must finish your homework tonight.

- Mustn’t (không được phép): dùng để chỉ sự cấm đoán.

E.g.: Students mustn’t cheat on the exam.

b) should and shouldn’t

- Dùng should (nên) hoặc shouldn’t (không nên) để đưa ra lời khuyên ai đó nên hoặc không nên làm gì.
