Good morning everyone. I'm Julia. I'm so honored to be here and share with you my experience
with first aid training. One day when my family having lunch, my grandmother suddenly started
to choke and turn blue. She couldn't stop coughing and then she couldn't breathe. Not only had
her lips gone blue but her face also turn purple, my family very horrified. Luckily, I had just
taken a first aid training course, so I knew exactly what to do. I stay calm and told my cousin to
call an ambulance. I slapped my granny hard on the back to try to clear her throat. Then I
wrapped my arms around my grandma from behind and squeezed her stomach. I asked everyone
to keep far from her to give her some oxygen. Luckily, my granny started to breathe normally
again. I gave her a few sips of water. tthe ambulance was cancelled. But the staff rang back
within the hour to check if everyone was OK. I felt very lucky and grateful for the first aid
course offered by Red Cross Community in my town. I had only finished the course a couple of
weeks earlier. But no idea, this training would bi put into practice so soon. The emergency really
underlined how important it is for people to learn first aid.
