
ABSTRACT
It can be said that the banking system plays a very important role in the
economy today. In addition to providing capital to the economy, as a bridge
between enterprises and the capital market, the banking system is a tool for the state
to regulate the macro economy and link national finance with international one.
Vietnam's international economic integration is going deeper and deeper.
Integration brings many opportunities, and also with many challenges for the
economy in general, including the banking sector in particular. In addition to the
increasing pressure from international banks, the fierce competition still exists
between domestic commercial banks, requiring bank‘s managers to have
appropriate strategies to improve the efficiency of banking operation.
Thus, originating from these practical and urgent requirements, the overall
assessment and identification of factors affecting the effective performance of
Vietnamese commercial banks is now very important and valuable. That's why I
chose the topic "Factors affecting the operation performance of Vietnamese
commercial banks" as a thesis, to contribute ideas to help build a "backbone" for the
banking system in Vietnam firmly.
The thesis explores factors affecting the operation performance of commercial
banks in Vietnam in the period 2012 - 2017. The study has an overview of the
current status of commercial banks in Vietnam, from which to provide the urgent
and objective research topic. Based on theoretical and previous studies, the author
selected the appropriate research model. The research uses quantitative methods
such as descriptive statistics, correlation matrix, model fit test, hypothesis test,
appropriate model selection, and regression model.
Based on the results of this study, the author proposed some solutions to
improve the operation performance of commercial banks in Vietnam. At the same
