OPENING
1. WHY THIS TOPIC?
1.1. Ngo Tat To is one of the outstanding writers of the critical literary reality
line and a typical author of modern Vietnamese prose in the first half of the 20th
century. His life, career and unique compositions became lessons and research topics
of school literature from high school to college and university. Therefore, it can be
affirmed that Ngo Tat To's literary career deserves to be studied in many aspects.
1.2. Literature is the art of words. Art language contributes to creating a
unique position and style for each writer. The study of linguistic arts helps to more
clearly shape the artistic style of each writer and affirm their position on the
literary forum. Thereby also helps us to learn more about literary linguistic
characteristics of each period.
1.3. The research focuses mainly on the content of thought, the artistic aspect,
and the artistic language of Ngo Tat To is a gap that has not been mentioned.
Therefore, we choose this issue to study a comprehensive, systematic language of the
writer's art.
2. SUBJECTS AND SCOPE OF THE STUDY
2.1. Subjects:
The subject of the thesis is the artistic language in the typical composition of
Ngo Tat To.
2.2. Scope of research:
The thesis focuses on researching and examining unique works that make up the
art style, confirming the position of the writer. It is a novel, a short story, a
reportage... of a writer before the Revolution.
3. RESEARCH PURPOSE AND MISSIONS
3.1. Research purposes:
Studying the artistic language in the works of Ngo Tat To in order to point
out the artistic linguistic characteristics of the writer, highlighting the unique
characteristics that make up his artistic style. It also clearly identifies the position

and contributions of writers in the development process of modern Vietnamese
prose. Besides, the thesis also points out the limitations of artistic language in the
writer's writing.
3.2. Missions
To clarify the research objectives, the thesis has performed the following tasks:
(1) Introduction of theoretical issues on artistic language; (2) Overview of research
situation on artistic language in the world and in Vietnam, in researching Ngo Tat
To; (3) Survey, make statistics, identify linguistic characteristics and principles of
organizing linguistic organization by Ngo Tat To; (4) Understanding and analyzing
the artistic language of Ngo Tat To in various aspects: narrative language, character
language and some other typical means ... (5) Comparing art language The art of
Ngo Tat To with writers of the same literary period. From there, find out the
characteristics and contributions of the author to the linguistic process of
Vietnamese prose.
4. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
4.1. Method of author research:
The study of the artistic language of Ngo Tat To places the object of research in
relation to the life and writing career of the writer.
4.2. Systematic research method
To clarify the linguistic characteristics of Ngo Tat To, we have learned and put
it in a close logical relationship from the study of social and historical circumstances,
fish situations. personality, discovered the principle of language organization ...
4.3. Method of classification and classification:
In the dissertation, we examined the following issues: examining the works of
Ngo Tat To, some works of other real writers such as Vu Trong Phung, Nguyen
Hong, Nam Cao ... Thereby collecting statistics, analyzing similar objects in order
to clearly see the commonalities and differences of the writer Ngo Tat To with
other writers.
