PREAMBLE
1. Reasons for choosing the topic
1.1. Social requirements for the reformation of the university
education
To meet the demand of the society, according to the requirements of
education innovation, teaching in universities has to organize activities so
that in the process of learning, students actively acquire necessary
knowledge and skills to form a personality as social requirements,
moreover, they must have the ability to self-study and enrich the
knowledge to learn and learn throughout life.
1.2. Require to change the way of teaching and the role of
metacognitive skills in learning
Nowadays, teaching focusses on not only what students will learn but
also how to learn. Metacognitive skills help learners to orientate and plan
their learning scientifically; self-assess and adjust of many aspects of
learning; monitor their own learning and propose appropriate solutions in
each specific situation; develop logical thinking, strategic thinking; help
learners to understand their learning and have the best way to learn.
1.3. Requirements for training teaching skills for pedagogical
students
For pedagogical students, one of the core factors that make up
pedagogical competence is teaching skills. Metacognitive skills are both an
important learning skill and a necessary teaching skill.
1.4. The role of training metacognitive skills in the Mathematics
Teaching Methods subjects
In the curriculum of Primary teachers, the mathematics teaching
methods subjects play an important role and are especially interested by
students due to their practical meaning with teaching - apprenticeship
activities. Metacognitive skills will help students to study better in subjects
of the mathematics teaching methods in particular and all the subjects in
the curriculum in general (as analyzed above). Moreover, the training of
metacognitive skills helps students to train necessary job skills.
1.5. The fact of researching on training metacognitive skills for
students of Primary Education
After reading, researching, enumeration of documents in the country
and abroad, we realize that up to now, metacognition has had a history of
research for more than 30 years since the American psychologist J. Flavell
gave the name to this term. Since then, a new research trend on

metacognition has been increasingly expanded with many theories and
models of different authors. In Vietnam, research on metacognition can be
said to be not much and only at the beginning with theoretical discoveries
and suggestions of the applicability of metacognition on the education.
Thus, it is essential to systematize theoretical issues, make analylist of the
applicability of metacognitive theory as well as propose solutions to train
metacognitive skills for students.
For the reasons mentioned above, the research topic selected in the
thesis is "Training metacognitive skills for Primary Education students
through teaching the subjects of Mathematics Teaching Methods".
2. Purpose of the research
On the basis of identifying necessary metacognitive skills, the role
and significance of those metacognitive skills for students of Primary
Education, the thesis gives out the procedure and proposes an model of
organizing activities, designs specific activities applied in the subjects of
mathematics teaching methods to train metacognitive skills for students of
Primary Education.
3. Object and scope of the research
3.1. Object of the research
The research object of the thesis is the metacognitive skills that need
to be trained for students in Primary Education through the subjects of
mathematics teaching methods.
3.2. Research's scope
The thesis focuses on training necessary metacognitve skills for
students in Primary Education through the subjects of mathematics
teaching methods.
4. Scientific hypothesis
If you can identify the necessary metacognitive skills for students in
Primary Education and build a procedure, propose an appropriate model of
organizing activities to apply in the subjects of mathematics teaching
methods, you can train metacognitive skills for students, thereby improve
the effectiveness in teaching the subjects of mathematics teaching methods
and training job skills for students.
5. Research task
- Overviewing and clarificating of theoretical and practical issues of
training metacognitive skills for students in Primary Education through the
subjects of mathematics teaching methods.
- Identifying necessary metacognitive skills for students in Primary
Education.
