Object: Name of lesson:   Period: Time:  Date: I. Introduction:       The lesson belongs to Unit 8. A date to remember of New Headway elementary book. It introduces the basic  knowledge about the usage of past simple 2, time expressions; vocabulary about relationships, spelling and silent letters; reading about  three inventions; speaking about famous inventions; writing about a friend. II. Aims:

1. Knowledge:

­ Knowing the usage of past simple 2, time expressions ­ Understanding the vocabulary about relationships, spelling and silent letters. ­ Reading about three inventions. ­ Enhancing writing skill: writing about a friend.

2. Skill:

­ Reading the vocabulary fluently. ­ ­ Practicing speaking skill. Practicing listening skill

3. Attitude:

Paying attention to the lesson. ­ ­ Contributing the ideas to the lesson. ­ Working in groups enthusiastically.

III. Preparation: 1. Teacher:

­ Curriculum: For students at Tay Nguyen School – Full time. ­ Teaching program: New Headway Elementary. ­ Teaching aids: Textbooks, pictures, handouts, computer, projector, board. ­ Testing and assessment: communicative approach, group discussion.

­ Knowledge   and   experiences   relating   to   the   lesson:  reviewing   the   usage   past   simple,   searching   vocabulary   about

TEACHERS ­ Call each Student to check their answers. Task 2, 3, 4 ­ Work in pairs and ask and answer based on the  conversation below. A: who invented TV? B:  A: When was TV invented? B: in  ­ Check the whole class and then give correct answers. ­ Give some cards of time and ask Ss to read and then give  the cards of time prepositions and ask them put with the  correct time expression Task 1.2 : ­ Ask Ss to underline all the dates in the texts. ­ Let them know that all these dates are incorrect and ask  them to listen and correct them. Task 3:  ­ Ask Ss to work individually , read the text again and  then do task 3  ­ Then compare their answers with their partners. ­ Play the tape and ask them listen and check. Task 4 :  ­ Ask Ss to work in groups and make some more incorrect  sentences about the texts and then ask other groups to  make them negative and give correct answers Ex: G1: Mary  Anderson often visited New York by air.

Task 2:  ­ Ask Ss to work in pairs , ask and answer the questions  ( use  a time expression and ago in the answer) Ex: A: When did you get up?

B:  At 7.00, three hours ago. A: When did this term start? B: In September, two months ago.

Task 3:  ­ Ask Ss to work in groups of 4 or 5 to tell something  about their day so far. ­ Call some Ss to report their answer in front of class. ­ Show the pictures of three inventions and ask Ss to  names these. ­ The photography ­ The windscreen wiper ­ The bicycle
