A quantitative analysis

From a cognitive perspective, this paper provides an in-depth analysis of the embedded adjectives in the structure of Chinese and Vietnamese quantitative nouns. It employs the theory of distance iconicity and image schema to reveal the cognitive strategies of these languages. The conceptual components within the structure of numeral classifiers are close, and thus they should also be close in language form.

Root cultures ofSwertia chirata(Gentianaceae) were grown with supplements of [1-13 C]glucose, [U-13 C6]glucose or [carboxy-13 C]shikimic acid. 1,3,5,8-Tetrahydroxyxanthone was isolated and analysed by quantitative NMR analysis. The phosphoproteins HPrSerP and CrhP are the main effectors for CcpA-mediated carbon catabolite regulation (CCR) inBacillus subtilis. Complexes of CcpA with HPrSerP or CrhP regulate genes by binding to the catabolite responsive elements (cre). We present a quantitative analysis of HPrSerP and CrhP interaction with CcpA by surface plasmon resonance (SPR) revealing small and similar equilibrium constants of 4.8 ± 0.4 lm for HPrSerP–CcpA and 19.1 ± 2.5 lmfor CrhP–CcpA complex dissoci-ation.

The glyoxalase pathway ofLeishmania infantumwas kinetically character-ized as a trypanothione-dependent system. General and simple principles are identified that govern signal transduc-tion. The effects of kinase and phosphatase inhibition on a MAP kinase pathway are first examinedin silico. Quantitative measures for the control of signal amplitude, duration and integral strength are introduced. We then identify and prove new principles, such that total control on signal ampli-tude and on final signal strength must amount to zero, and total control on signal duration and on integral signal intensity must equal)1.
