  • An approximate method is proposed for determining the aerodynamic effect of coherent vortex structures (CVS) of atmospheric turbulence on an aircraft. As a source of the CVS the vortex wind wakes arising when the atmospheric wind flows around the mountain massif of the Son Tra peninsula, located near the Da Nang airport, and the vortex wake behind the Su-27 type aircraft in the landing configuration are considered.

  • The aim of this study is to examine the flow through unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) including the main wing, tail and body and to calculate the aerodynamic force on the horizontal tail when rotating the elevator using the Fluent software for the viscous flows. Small disturbance theory was used to calculate the longitudinal stability of the UAV when controlling the elevator. Flying qualities are assessed to show that changes in the aerodynamic characteristics of the wing, tail, fuselage and configuration of the UAV may be required.

  • This article carries out the numerical simulation of airflow over three dimensional car models using ANSYS Fluent software. The calculations have been performed by using realizable k- turbulence model. The external airflow field of the simplified BMW M6 model with or without a wing is simulated. Several aerodynamic characteristics such as pressure distribution, velocity contours, velocity vectors, streamlines, turbulence kinetic energy and turbulence dissipation energy are analyzed in this study.
