This research investigates the properties of concrete utilizing coal mine waste rock (CMWR) as a substitute for river sand. The workability of fresh concrete is assessed through slump tests, revealing a decrease in a slump as the percentage of CMWR replacement increases.

This paper presents the experimental results of the viscosity and its influence of cement paste on both the segregation of the concrete mixture and the compressive strength of EPS-C. The research revealed that a viscosity of cement paste below 50 mPa.s results in segregation of the concrete mixture.

Drying shrinkage is the main cause of early age cracking of concrete and mortar. A wide range of research has been conducted to reduce the drying shrinkage, including using fibres or chemical admixtures. This paper investigated the effect of shrinkage reducing admixture on the flexural strength, compressive strength, drying shrinkage, water absorption and porosity of mortar.

The research in the field of cementitious materials has brought towards many non-traditional binder systems. One of these systems, a ternary binder composed of calcium aluminate cement (CAC), ordinary Portland cement (OPC), and calcium sulfate (C$Hx), called ettringite binder, offers a possibility of very rapid development in mechanical strength.

This study aims to investigate the long-term mechanical properties and durability of cementitious composites (CC) with low polypropylene (PP) fiber content and local river sand. The CC samples were prepared with different water-to-binder (w/b) ratios (0.20, 0.25, and 0.3), low PP fiber content (0.6% by mass of binder), locally available river sand, and fly ash (FA) sourced in the Mekong Delta region, corresponding to the mixture name WB20, WB25, and WB30, respectively.

This paper investigates the influence of intergranular friction and grain size distributions on the initial void ratio of a granular sample subjected to isotropic compression loading. In the field of geomechanics, besides the loading path and evolution of microscopic properties, the initial void ratio is a crucial and key factor that governs the mechanical behavior of geomaterials.

This study uses chitin as a filler for a polyurethane composite foam. The obtained polymer composite materials (PCM) are examined the technological parameters of the foaming (start time, rise time, and apparent density), the physical-mechanical properties (the compressive stress, compression set, resilience), and the cross-link density.

There were only limited researches on the properties of 3D periodic cellular materials, especially for 3D periodic cellular materials with Schwarz primitive structure which have potential to be used for energy absorption. The objective of this study is to investigate the energy absorption, compressive strength and deformation pattern of the 3D periodic cellular materials with Schwarz primitive structure, which possesses optimum bulk modulus. The study is planned to provide these important research issues of such 3D cellular materials for energy absorption applications.

The current research is undertaken by performing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations for a 2D aerofoil fitted with a shock control bump at a transonic flow condition. Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equation coupled with turbulence models is adopted to solve the flowfield. The bump has a conventional geometric feature which consists of a ramp, a crest and a tail, and it has eight variants for which the designed parameters are reasonably specified according to the compressible aerodynamics theory.

Steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) is a multiple-composite material developed during the early 1970s. In SFRC, short steel fibers are randomly distributed in concrete. Steel fibers can prevent the development of micro-cracks inside the concrete and reduce the expansion and development of the macro-cracks, thus enhance mechanical performance of SFRC. However, there is lack of studies on the influence of flowability of fresh SFRC on the steel fiber distribution patterns and mechanical properties of hardened SFRC.

In this paper residual stress in thick layer composites have been studied. Using numerical analysis, the curing process has been modeled and mechanical properties of a thick layer composite are obtained and the induced residual stress in these composites has been assessed. Unlike thin layer composites, the stress in each layer is not specific and a tensile and compressive stress field can exist simultaneously in thick layer composites.
