  • The paper discusses how the traditional method of association rule mining based on user-defi ned minimum support and confi dence can result in either too many or too few association rules. This could lead to valuable information being missed or redundant rules being generated, which is not practical and can be costly to implement.

  • The data of education and training system, which have been and are being gathered, are implicit for allowing the use of OLAP and Data Mining. In order to implement these applications, it is needed to construct a data warehouse. Based on that foundation, we will quickly and effectively have much of useful information in study, statistics and discovery. This information will be used to advise and help Managers in decision making. In our report, the implementation of a data warehouse for a pedagogic university and its effects in education are presented.

  • This study aims to describe the association between sharp score and clinical indexes, bone metabolism indexes, Disease Activity Score (DAS28) and sociodemographic factors in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Data were collected from the HIS (hospital information system), a national inpatient database in China, with information on the patients hospitalized during the period from 2012 to 2019. The association between sharp score and effective factors were identifed using multinomial logistic regression and association rule mining (ARM).

  • In addition to traditional exploiting information methods, researchers have developed attribute reduction methods to reduce the size of the data space and eliminate irrelevant attributes. Our attribute reduction is based on the dependence between attributes in traditional rough set theory and in fuzzy rough set. The author built the tool which is inclusion degree and tolerance-based contingency table to solve the problem of finding the approximation set on set-valued information systems.

  • Human resource managers are confronted with the problem that they have to fulfil the enterprise’s competence needs either by developing their current staff or by recruiting new employees. In both cases decisions about who to select for the new position and more often which competences are crucial for the future success. This is especially true for highly dynamic industries like the IT industry. This article presents our work from the KoPIWA project in the Digital Economy.

  • Workflow management systems help to execute, monitor and manage work process flow and execution. These systems, as they are executing, keep a record of who does what and when (e.g. log of events). The activity of using computer software to examine these records, and deriving various structural data results is called workflow mining.

  • This paper describes three building blocks of a technological Knowledge Management (KM) system that provides all relevant and practical means of supporting KM and thus differentiates itself from existing KM tools in goal and approach, as they usually deal with a limited range only. The three blocks described within this paper are: a virtual information pool, which utilizes Enterprise Application Integration (EAI), a single and central user interface providing ubiquitous access, and mechanisms to enrich the available data, essentially based on Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining techniques.

  • We propose a language-independent method for the automatic extraction of transliteration pairs from parallel corpora. In contrast to previous work, our method uses no form of supervision, and does not require linguistically informed preprocessing. We conduct experiments on data sets from the NEWS 2010 shared task on transliteration mining and achieve an F-measure of up to 92%, outperforming most of the semi-supervised systems that were submitted.

  • Today the term big data draws a lot of attention, but behind the hype there's a simple story. For decades, companies have been making business decisions based on transactional data stored in relational databases. Beyond that critical data, however, is a potential treasure trove of non-traditional, less structured data: weblogs, social media, email, sensors, and photographs that can be mined for useful information. Decreases in the cost of both storage and compute power have made it feasible to collect this data - which would have been thrown away only a few years ago.

  • The field of machine learning is concerned with the question of how to construct computer programs that automatically improve with experience. In recent years many successful machine learning applications have been developed, ranging from data-mining programs that learn to detect fraudulent credit card transactions, to information-filtering systems that learn users' reading preferences, to autonomous vehicles that learn to drive on public highways. At the same time, there have been important advances in the theory and algorithms that form the foundations of this field....
