Impact of the water system

The study on assessing the impacts of saline intrusion on water resources, from building a hydraulic model MIKE 11 including hydraulic model, rain model, and advection–dispersion module (HD + RR + AD) together with the calculation scenarios in consideration of climate change through the high scenarios RCP 8.5 and low scenarios RCP 4.5 in 2025, 2030 and 2050 are highlighted in the paper.

This study utilized the GIS-based Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model to simulate the flow of Vu Gia - Thu Bon river basin at two hydrological stations - Nong Son and Thanh My, during the calibration period (2004 - 2010) and the verification period (2011 - 2015). The evaluation results of both periods, as measured by the NSE and R2 indexes, were found to be above 0.75.

The problem of flooding and drought is believed to be the impact of the water system in the poor watershed area. The flooding that later resulted in the accumulation of sediment in the downstream region and reservoir area, this was related to the condition of the forest in the upper part of the base.
