Indigenous art

The research work expresses an ongoing and evolving process that has been guided and influenced by current Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australian postcolonial critical thinking and arts criticism, assisting within the development of my personal views and philosophies .This process has supported the formation of a belief system that I believe has matured throughout my research and art practices, providing a personal confidence to assert my own analytical stance on colonial history.

The aim of this thesis is to extend understanding of how Australian Indigenous and Nonindigenous art markets are both similar and distinct from one another. Aside from the obvious difference in relation to the categorisation of the types of art works that each sub-market encompasses which is explored in the next section of this chapter, this thesis considers the operation of the market mechanism to determine the auction price in Indigenous and Nonindigenous art markets as well as the overall Australian art market.

The purpose of the research project "Thesis for the degree of Master of Arts: Analysis of Professional Practice of Being an Indigenous Cultural Awareness Trainer" has been to gain a deeper awareness of the practice of Cultural Awareness Training and to develop resources that will support other practitioners in the field.
