Nonlinear dynamic response

The nonlinear dynamic buckling responses of functionally graded graphene platelet reinforced composite (FG-GPLRC) cylindrical and sinusoid panels with porous core are presented in this paper. The governing formulations are established by applying the nonlinear higher-order shear deformation theory (HSDT).

The modulus reduction and damping curves represent the nonlinear behavior of soil under cyclic load. In the literature, those curves were produced from lab tests of soil at particular confining stresses. This study developed a set of parameters that can be used to normalize the modulus reduction and damping curves to be stress-independent.

The study results for dynamic response of PFGCP present the effect of geometrical ratio, elastic foundations: Winkler foundation and Paskternak foundation; loads: mechanical load and thermal load; and the material properties and distribution type of porosity. The results are shown numerically and are determined by using Galerkin methods and Fourth-order Runge-Kutta method.

Typical dynamic responses are also shown. The motor is initially at standstill and at no load when a step command in speed is applied; when steady-state conditions are reached, a reversal of speed is commanded followed by a step load application. The system is highly nonlinear due to the introduction of saturation needed to limit both the current delivered and the voltage applied to the motor.
