One of the most popular ornamental plants worldwide, roses (Rosa sp.), are very susceptible to Botrytis gray mold disease. The necrotrophic infection of rose petals by B. cinerea causes the collapse and death of these tissues in both the growth and post-harvest stages, resulting in serious economic losses.

Chrysanthemum is one kind of ornamental plant well-known and widely used in the world. However, its quality and production were severely affected by low temperature conditions in winter and early spring periods. Therefore, we used the RNA-Seq platform to perform a de novo transcriptome assembly to analyze chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflorum) transcription response to low temperature.

Pectobacterium spp. are necrotrophic bacterial plant pathogens of the family Pectobacteriaceae, responsible for a wide spectrum of diseases of important crops and ornamental plants including soft rot, blackleg, and stem wilt. P. carotovorum is a genetically heterogeneous species consisting of three valid subspecies, P. carotovorum subsp. brasiliense (Pcb), P. carotovorum subsp. carotovorum (Pcc), and P. carotovorum subsp. odoriferum (Pco).

The reblooming bearded iris (Iris germanica) can bloom twice a year, in spring and autumn. The extended ornamental period makes it more popular and brings additional commercial values. However, little is known about the reblooming mechanisms, making the breeding programs time-consuming and labor-wasting.

Rose (Rosa chinensis) is a traditional famous flower with valuable ornamental characteristics. However, drought stress restricts its growth and development, leading to an abnormal phenotype. One of the main transcription factor (TF) protein groups in the plant kingdom are the APETALA2/ethylene-responsive factor (AP2/ ERF) proteins and are potentially involved in the growth and stress responses of various plants.

The AP2/ERFs belong to a large family of transcription factors in plants. The AP2/ERF gene family has been identified as a key player involved in both biotic and abiotic stress responses in plants, however, no comprehensive study has yet been carried out on the AP2/ERF gene family in rose (Rosa sp.), the most important ornamental crop worldwide.

The present investigation was carried out during the year 2019-2020 at four study sites. The ornamental plant i.e. OP-16 among plants, S1 among sites and OP-16 X S1 among interactions exhibited maximum total chlorophyll content. Relative Water Content (RWC) recorded was highest in OP-18 (91.68) among plants, S3 (81.20) among sites.

The phytohormone ethylene plays a central role in development and senescence of climacteric flowers. In ornamental plant production, ethylene sensitive plants are usually protected against negative effects of ethylene by application of chemical inhibitors. In Campanula, flowers are sensitive to even minute concentrations of ethylene.

Adventitious root (AR) formation in axillary shoot tip cuttings is a crucial physiological process for ornamental propagation that is utilised in global production chains for young plants. In this process, the nitrogen and carbohydrate metabolisms of a cutting are regulated by its total nitrogen content (Nt), dark exposure during transport and irradiance levels at distinct production sites and phases through a specific plasticity to readjust metabolite pools.

Colour patterns are the most distinct phenotypic traits in the majority of the living organism including fishes and considered as one of the main influencing factors in consumers’ buying decisions. Color traits are regulated by mainly four types of pigments stored in chromatophores. Melanin, is one of the most important pigment of cells, responsible for the coloration. Tyrosinase is a characteristics enzyme in melanin biosynthesis. Modulation of tyrosinase is of significance in the ornamental fish industry, food fishes as well as in humans.

Gladiolus (Gladiolus hybrida) is an important ornamental plant cultivated world over for its attractive spikes. The commercial cultivation of Gladiolus is based on natural multiplication of corms and cormels. In vitro propagation techniques, is superior to conventional propagation and produces disease free plants in huge quantities. In vitro regeneration of gladiolus cultivars, Sylvia, White Prosperity and Amsterdam was achieved using shoot bud of cormels as an explant. Sylvia variety recorded the best for callus induction and regeneration than other two varieties.

An MS-based metabolomic approach was used to profile the secondary metabolite of the ornamental plant Erythrina lysistemon via ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled to photodiode array detection and high resolution q-TOF mass spectrometry (UPLC-PDA-MS). Cultures maintained the capacity to produce E. lysistemon flavonoid subclasses with pterocarpans amounting for the most abundant ones suggesting that it could provide a resource of such flavonoid subclass. In contrast, alkaloids, major constituents of Erythrina genus, were detected at trace levels in suspension cultures.

It is widely accepted that irrigation allows for the increase and stability in agrarian yields, being a necessary tool to support food supplies and necessities for certain raw materials in the world. However, irrigated agriculture is also considered the most significant fresh water consumer and one of the main causes of pollution, degradation and depletion of natural resources. These impacts are primarily related to changes in the water cycle, salinization of agricultural soils, and salinization and pollution of water resources due to the use of agrochemicals....
