The coastal current plays a vital role in the transportation of sediment near the shoreline, significantly impacting the distribution of sediment grain sizes and shoreline transformations. This study focuses on examining the near-shore coastal current along the Soc Trang Province coast in Vietnam, considering the combined influences of waves, winds, and tides by utilizing a model in curvilinear coordinate system.

Previous work has been unable to establish a relationship between K concentration and De in single-grains of feldspar. Here we use four well-bleached sediments with low external dose rate (typically ≤1.5 Gy ka−1 ) to investigate this relationship.

This paper describes a system for measurement of the IRPL signal from single sand-sized grains of feldspar. The attachment uses an electron-multiplying charge-coupled device (EMCCD) imaging system, and has two innovations that make it possible to use such a detector to obtain IRPL data.

This is important as different particle size classes are documented with different pollution contents and loads. This knowledge builds the foundation for the selection of best management practices to improve receiving water quality.

Kim Son coastal plain is a part of the Red River Delta located between Day and Can rivers. Over the past 55 years, Kim Son coastal plain has been the region with the highest accretion rate in the Red River Delta. This study aims to clarify the sediment characteristics of Kim Son coastal plain. It has the structure of a typical tidal flat and a relatively straightforward tide-influenced sedimentary structure evidenced by the field observation, sampling 70 hand-drilled boreholes, borehole logging and analyzing 177 samples of grain size.

In order to clarify heavy metal concentration profiles in different mangrove forest ages, four sediment cores (up to 100 cm in depth) were collected and tested for their physicochemical characteristics (pH, Eh, organic matters and grain size) and heavy metal concentrations.

The CGM has been gradually facing to numeric challenges of global climate change, environmental degradation and socio-economic development for the last decades. To evaluate sediment quality in the CGM, we collected 13 cores to analyze for sediment grain size, organic matter content, and trace element concentration of Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn. Results showed that trace element concentrations ranged from uncontaminated (Cd, Cu, and Zn) to very minor contaminated (Cr, Ni, and Pb). The concentrations were gradually influenced by suspended particle size and the mangrove plants.

The objective of this study is to quantify the organic carbon (OC) storage and its sources in sediments of Dong Rui mangrove forests, Tien Yen district, Quang Ninh province by analyzing TOC (total organic carbon), TN (total nitrogen), C/N ratios, δ13C isotopes and sediment grain sizes.

This study is based on two sampling campaigns covering the whole Vietnamese Red River watershed in 40 sites at low and high water levels during 2009 in order to determine the seasonal and spatial variations of Hg concentrations in stream sediments. The results showed that the Hg concentrations during low water level were clearly higher than that during high water level, demonstrating an effect of particle (grain) size (i.e. significant contribution of less mercury-contaminated particles in high water level).

This paper presents characteristics of grain-size parameters of the surface sediments in order to interpret the sediment-transport pattern and the linkage to coastal erosion and deposition off the Mekong River delta. Surface sediments collected in the coastal water of Mekong River delta (as far south as Ca Mau Peninsula) were analyzed to determine the grain-size distribution and sediment transports in subaqueous Mekong delta.
