Calcium channel blocker overdose is usually very fatal and challenging to manage. The patients are usually asymptomatic on admission, but deteriorate very rapidly. Currently, there is no specific antidote, and the treatment is supportive requiring high level of critical care, and may necessitate extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. In this work, high-throughput (HT) methodology is employed to overcome this problem by testing many different catalyst formulations. Fast performance screening of 40 different α-Al2 O3 supported FeMn based catalysts promoted with Cu, K and Ni, using different impregnation agents, was performed in a HT test system at atmospheric pressure. Promising catalyst candidates identified by HT analysis were further subjected to high pressure FTS in a conventional system.

Currently, there is an urgent need to increase lint yield, fiber quality, and resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses due to rising pressure from a global population and possible supply shortages from the effects of erratic climate changes. In this study, a series of benzimidazole-piperidine derivatives were synthesized with the objective of developing potent antinociceptive agents. Some 2-(4-substituted-phenyl)-1-[2-(piperidin-1-yl)ethyl]-1H-benzimidazole derivatives were obtained by microwave-supported reaction of an appropriate 2-(4-substituted-phenyl)-1H-benzimidazole with 2-(piperidine-1-yl)ethyl chloride. The chemical structures of the compounds were elucidated by FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and HRMS spectral data. Antinociceptive activity was assessed by conducting hot-plate, paw-pressure, and formalin tests.

The thermoelastic damping (TED) and support loss are involved to calculate the total Q-factor of micro-beam resonator. The effect of surface roughness pattern (film thickness ratio and Peklenik number) on Q-factors of micro-beam resonators is then discussed. It is found that the effect of roughness pattern becomes more considerably on Q-factor in lower gas rarefaction (higher pressure) and higher effective viscosity of the gas.

Non-invasive mechanical ventilation (NIV) in patients with acute respiratory failure has been traditionally determined based on clinical assessment and changes in blood gases, with NIV support pressures manually adjusted by an operator. Bilevel positive airway pressure-spontaneous/timed (BiPAP S/T) with average volume assured pressure support (AVAPS) uses a fixed tidal volume that automatically adjusts to a patient’s needs.

Statin-associated necrotizing myopathy (SANM) is a rare autoimmune disorder caused by administration of statins. SANM is characterized by weakness due to necrosis and regeneration of myofibers. Here we report the first case of SANM with acute respiratory failure treated with noninvasive pressure support ventilation in addition to immunosuppressants.
