A numerical study on the dynamics of DNA molecules in an optical trap

The dynamics of DNA molecules in an optical trap using continuous wave (CW) laser beams is analyzed based on the normalized Langevin equation (NLE). A procedure in normalizing the full Langevin equation is presented. Some position-pulling time characteristics of the bead in the trap are simulated using both NLE and finite difference Langevin equation (FDLE) approaches. The obtained results from two approaches are compared together with discussions in details.
