Klebsiella pneumoniae is a leading cause of bloodstream infection (BSI). Strains producing extendedspectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) or carbapenemases are considered global priority pathogens for which new treatment and prevention strategies are urgently required, due to severely limited therapeutic options.
