Large displacement analysis of beam and frame structure using a total Lagrange formulation

In the present paper, a 2D nonlinear beam element based on the geometrically exact formulation for large displacement theory of beams developed by Zienkiewicz [7] is formulated on the basis of the first-order shear deformation theory and the total Lagrangian method. The displacements of the element are described through the original (reference) configuration.
