Kathryn Garforth is the Legal Officer for the Biosafety division of the United Nations Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity. Her chapter was written while she was working as an independent consultant. Johanna Gibson is Herchel Smith Professor of Intellectual Property Law and Director of the Queen Mary Intellectual Property Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London, where she researches and teaches in intellectual property and traditional knowledge.
