On the CD The companion CD contains logo designs that can be used as templates for your own work, some sample artwork and photos that contain layers, and samples of logos and designs that incorporate applying filters and other special effects. In addition, nearly every chapter includes exercises and chapter projects. The files you’ll need to work through these projects are also included on the CD. To open a file from the CD, put the CD in the CD drive, and from inside Photoshop, select File>Open. In the Open dialog box, browse to the CD and double-click the folder to open. (The folders are organized by chap- ters, though not all chapters have a folder.) Select the files to open from the list and click Open. If prompted to convert the color profile, choose Convert Document’s Colors to the Working Space. You may prefer to work with the companion files from your hard drive. To do so, copy the files from the CD to a folder on your hard drive. To remove the read-only attribute, open the folder with Windows Explorer, select all the files, then right-click and open the Properties window.
