Soap Operas and Fertility: Evidence from Brazil*

On top of the increase in social network use, the poll finds that news is also more prevalent on social networking sites. The share of users who saw news there yesterday nearly doubled from 19% to 36% between 2010 and 2012. The increasing use of these sites for news has not just occurred among young people.
