Xanthones and other compounds from the latex of Garcinia cowa

To the best of our knowledge, garcinone D, fuscaxanthone I and parvifoliol F were first reported as components of Garcinia cowa. Four isolated xanthones were investigated for antioxidant activities through the extent of their abilities to scavenge the ABTS·+ radical cation. The result showed that compounds 1 and 2 exhibited potent antioxidant activities with IC50 values of 74.45 ± 8.89 µM and 64.56 ± 4.51 µM, respectively.
