  • This research, which uses methods of evaluating economic values, aims to quantitatively assess the extent of damage caused by SLR on an area of mangrove forests in Giao Thuy district, Nam Dinh province. The valuation of these impacts will provide a basis for scientists, research institutions, and localities to proactively mitigate and adapt to climate change. Research results show the damage of climate change and SLR to the coastal mangrove forests in Giao Thuy and the risk to agricultural land use in the Nghia Hung and Hai Hau districts.

  • To achieve global food security, rising agricultural productivity through modern breeding strategies is of prime interest. A variety of biotic and abiotic stresses influences both productivity and crop quality, and it is essential for growing crops with improved adaptability, high productivity and resistance to these biotic/abiotic stresses. Availability of genome sequences helps to improve crop production by using different biotechnological tools.

  • In the last decades scientists around the world have come to a consensus that the survival of humanity is threatened by rising climate changes if people continue to consume and produce in the same way as it has been. According to different analyses including those commissioned by the World Bank, Vietnam is among the countries to be heavily impacted by a rise in sea level caused by the melt of Northern and Southern ice caps.

  • We are a group of dedicated material scientists each with 15–25 years of research and development experience in the assembly and interconnect technologies of electronics. Our experience in chemical and mechanical interfacial compatibility between dissimilar materials dates back to the end of the 1980s. Since the early 1990s with the rise of the electronics industry in Finland, we focused our work increasingly into the challenges of materials, assembly technologies and reliability of portable electronics.

  • The problem of overweight affects more than 1 in 7 youth ages 6 to 17 (Flegal, et al., 2002; Ogden, et al., 2002). A number of factors contribute to this rising rate of childhood overweight; however, scientists and medical professionals agree that poor diet and lack of physical activity play some of the most important roles in children being overweight (Berkey, et al., 2000; Rowlands, et al., 1999). Sub-optimal levels of physical activity and poor ...

  • ON that summer day the sky over New York was unflecked by clouds, and the air hung motionless, the waves of heat undisturbed. The city was a vast oven where even the sounds of the coiling traffic in its streets seemed heavy and weary under the press of heat that poured down from above. In Washington Square, the urchins of the neighborhood splashed in the fountain, and the usual midday assortment of mothers, tramps and out-of-works lounged listlessly on the hot park benches. As a bowl, the Square was filled by the torrid sun, and the trees and grass drooped...

  • The veterinary profession has made major diagnostic and therapeutic advances in the treatment of infectious and degenerative diseases. The incidence of chronic disease and cancer, however, has increased at alarming rates and is diagnosed at younger ages, even in puppies and kittens. Perhaps it is this rising incidence of degenerative diseases that has spawned an insatiable search by professionals, scientists, and animal guardians for alternative therapies.

  • The author in this work endeavours to solve the greatest scientific problem that has puzzled scientists for the past two hundred years. The question has arisen over and over again, since the discovery of universal gravitation by Sir Isaac Newton, as to what is the physical cause of the attraction of gravitation. “Action at a distance” has long ceased to be recognized as a possible phenomenon, although up to the present, the medium and method of gravitational attraction have not yet been discovered.

  • By studying Darwin’s finches and East African cichlids, scientists can get clues that help them understand much older, much bigger adaptive radiations. One of the biggest was the early rise of animals. This period of animal evolution is sometimes nicknamed “the Cambrian explosion.” Unfortunately, that name gives the impression that all the modern groups of animals popped into existence 540 million years ago at the dawn of the Cambrian period. Animals evolved from protozoans, which left fossils over a bil- lion years before the Cambrian.

  • Global warming is the rising average temperature of Earth's atmosphere and oceans since the late 19th century and its projected continuation. Since the early 20th century, Earth's average surface temperature has increased by about 0.8 °C, with about two thirds of the increase occurring since 1980. Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, and scientists are more than 90% certain that most of it is caused by increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases produced by human activities such as deforestation and the burning of fossil fuels.
