The United States Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology sponsored the development of a “high-priority” list of drug-drug interactions (DDIs) to be used for clinical decision support. We assessed current adoption of this list and current alerting practice for these DDIs with regard to alert implementation (presence or absence of an alert) and display (alert appearance as interruptive or passive).

In the present study, trichomes of 70 spp. from nine genera and pollens of 53 spp. from six genera were investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in order to draw the taxonomic conclusion of tribe Stachydeae. Trichome characters that can provide adequate variation in delimitation of taxa were: presence or absence of glandular or nonglandular trichomes, number of cells (uni-/bi-/multicellular), presence of extremely long trichomes (i.e.

The performance of an original CE-MS interface that allows the in-axis positioning of the electrospray with respect to the MS inlet was evaluated. The variations in the geometrical alignment of this configuration in the absence of a nebulizing gas afforded a significant reduction in the sheath-liquid flow rate from 3 μL/min to as low as 300 nL/min.

The human reference genome is still incomplete, especially for those population-specific or individual-specific regions, which may have important functions. Here, we developed a HUman Pan-genome ANalysis (HUPAN) system to build the human pan-genome.

Differences in DNA methylation can arise as epialleles, which are loci that differ in chromatin state and are inherited over generations. Epialleles offer an additional source of variation that can affect phenotypic diversity beyond changes to nucleotide sequence. Previous research has looked at the rate at which spontaneous epialleles arise but it is currently unknown how they are maintained across generations.

Structural variants (SVs) significantly drive genome diversity and environmental adaptation for diverse species. Unlike the prevalent small SVs (< kilobase-scale) in higher eukaryotes, large-size SVs rarely exist in the genome, but they function as one of the key evolutionary forces for speciation and adaptation.

How species can adapt to abrupt environmental changes, particularly in the absence of standing genetic variation, is poorly understood and a pressing question in the face of ongoing climate change.

This research aims to study a process of steeping in the n-heptane, used for reducing the migration of additives contained initially in toys for babies plasticized with di-octylphtalate (DOP) based on poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC) and stabilized with epoxidized sunflower oil (ESO). Two formulations were carried out at different levels of DOP plasticizers (15% and 45%). The migration tests were conducted in the synthetic saliva in the absence and in the presence of α-amylase with or without agitation at 37° C for 1, 3, and 6 h.

Maize is well known for its exceptional structural diversity, including copy number variants (CNVs) and presence/absence variants (PAVs), and there is growing evidence for the role of structural variation in maize adaptation. While PAVs have been described in this important crop species, they have been only scarcely characterized at the sequence level and the extent of presence/absence variation and relative chromosomal landscape of inbredspecific regions remain to be elucidated.

Barley is the world’s fourth most cultivated cereal and is an important crop model for genetic studies. One layer of genomic information that remains poorly explored in barley is presence/absence variation (PAV), which has been suggested to contribute to phenotypic variation of agronomic importance in various crops.

Herbivory imposes an important selective pressure on plants. In Arabidopsis thaliana leaf trichomes provide a key defense against insect herbivory; however, trichome production incurs a fitness cost in the absence of herbivory.

An experiment was undertaken by utilizing forty five Niger genotypes for twelve yield and yield contributing characters to assess genetic divergence. The analysis of variance has shown that there was significant variation among the genotypes in all the traits. The multivariate analysis carried out using MahalanobisD2 -statistics, indicated wider genetic diversity in the genotypes of niger.

Fowlpox virus (FWPV) and Pigeonpox virus (PGPV) isolates from domesticated fowls and pigeons from Jammu region were inoculated on chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) of chicken embryonated eggs (CEE) through three passage levels to observe their cytopathic effects (CPE) and underlying pathology. Development of PGPV induced lesions was earlier than FWPV, and more severe. PGPV progressed from small white opaque lesions from first passage; to CAM thickening, haemorrhages and very prominent and extensive pock lesions at second; and by third passage, focal areas of necrosis was evident.

A doubled haploid (DH) is a genotype developed when haploid cells undergo chromosome doubling. Artificial production of doubled haploids is important in plant breeding. Double haploid (DH) breeding can helps in speedup conventional plant breeding programmes and make early release of cultivars with superior and desirable traits along with greater utility in other research aspects of plant breeding, genetics and genetic engineering. DH’s helps in complementing back cross breeding by transferring genes of interest from wild relatives thus breaking genetic barriers.

A new method to confirm the absence of human and animal serum in mesenchymal stem cell culture media
Mesenchymal stem cells are an ideal source for regenerative medicine. For clinical use, cell culture should be done at stable conditions, thus the use of serum should be avoided because of the batch-to-batch variations of serum.
