Accumulation of moisture

Xem 1-10 trên 10 kết quả Accumulation of moisture
  • Water deficit is one of the major abiotic stresses which adversely affect the crop growth and yield. Moisture stress induce the metabolic functions, such as reduced synthesis of photosynthetic pigments, accumulation of osmoprotectants like proline, decline in the Chlorophyll stability and alterations in physiological parameters. The Field experiment was conducted at Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai during summer season 2016 with the variety of SVPR - 4.

  • The present study was conducted during kharif, 2012 and 2013 at ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi to find out the effect of moisture management and zinc fertilization on performance of pearlmillet under rainfed conditions. Results of two year study showed considerable improvement in growth and productivity of pearlmillet. Flat bed with 5.0 t/ha crop residue recorded significantly higher plant height, dry matter accumulation, number of earheads, grain weight per earhead, yield and profitability as compared to flat bed without crop residue and flat bed with 2.

  • The main limiting factor for increasing yields in the conditions of the arid steppe of Northern Kazakhstan is moisture. The accumulation of moisture during winter precipitation for plants in arid conditions in the initial stage of the growing season was a serious production problem.

  • Present investigation was carried out in the rainout shelter at Student Instructional Farm (SIF), Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Faizabad (U.P.) during Kharif (wet season) 2015 and 2016. Experiments were laid out in randomized block design with 3 replications, one variety i.e. Swarna Sub 1and nine foliar treatments. Rice plants were exposed to drought at 60 DAT for 15 days by holding irrigation during drought treatment. During drought treatment soil moisture tension of the field was ranged from 60-80 kPa.

  • Responses of 4 cultivars of rice viz. NDR-8002, TCA-48, IR-42 and BPT 5204 to varying levels of moisture deficit stress at flowering stage were assessed in the plastic tubs for their relative tolerance to drought. Moisture deficit adversely affected the apparent translocation rate, relative leaf water content, total chlorophyll content and total soluble carbohydrate content, while proline accumulation enhanced irrespective of varieties. Grain yield decreased conspicuously in all the varieties in response to water stress.

  • An attempt was made to screen forty native AM fungal isolates from the soybean rhizosphere of Belagavi and Dharwad districts based on their peroxidise activity and total dry matter accumulation in soybean under the restricted water regime of -500 kPa. Top three fungal isolates viz., UASDAMFS15, UASDAMFS25 and UASDAMFS36 tentatively identified as G. maculosum, G. manihotis and G. globiferum respectively. For pot culture studies three irrigation regimes were maintained viz., -33 kPa -500 kPa and -1000 kPa. An experiment was laid out in completely randomized design with factorial concept.

  • Macronutrient specially K and micronutrient malnutrition, and particularly deficiency in zinc (Zn), iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn), afflicts over three billion people worldwide. A pot culture experiment was conducted to study the effect of water stress on potassium and some micronutrient accumulation in straw and grains of wheat genotypes. Eight wheat genotypes were grown, 4 tolerant and 4 susceptible against water stress for the experiment. Moisture stress treatment to plants was given at anthesis through withdrawal of water.

  • Transmission lines located in the desert are subjected to desert climate, one of whose features is sandstorms. With long accumulation of sand and with the advent of moisture from rain, ambient humidity and dew, a conductive layer forms and the subsequent leakage current may lead to surface discharge, which may shorten the insulator life or lead to flashover thus interrupting the power supply. Strategically erected power lines in the Egyptian Sinai desert are typically subject to such a risk, where sandstorms are known to be common especially in the spring.

  • Some parallel disk gate valves used in high pressure systems are made with an integral bonnet vent and bypass line. A three-way valve is used to position the line to bypass in order to equalize pressure across the disks prior to opening. When the gate valve is closed, the three-way valve is positioned to vent the bonnet to one side or the other. This prevents moisture from accumulating in the bonnet. The three-way valve is positioned to the high pressure side of the gate valve when closed to ensure that flow does not bypass the isolation valve.

  • Faulty construction or neglected maintenance is the primary cause of structural hazards in homes and schools. Faulty construction leads to building defects that increase the likelihood of structural hazards and fires, which in turn increase the risk of falls, burns, and other injuries. These defects also lead to inadequate ventilation and moisture accumulation; both factors raise the levels of asthma triggers in the home (38, 52).
