Polythiophene (PTh) and polythiophene/molybdenum oxide nanocomposites (PTh/MoO3) were synthesized by an in-situ chemical oxidative method. The successful synthesis of both the materials was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

The ketalization reaction of glycerol with acetone for solketal formation was performed using a gel-type ion exchange resin, Indion 225H in a solvent-free medium. The experimental parameters molar ratio, catalyst loading, rate of stirring, and temperature were analyzed and evaluated for their impact on the conversion of glycerol. A kinetic model based on the Langmuir–Hinshelwood–Hougen– Watson (LHHW) equation described the kinetics of the heterogeneous system.

Zeolite-templated synthesis of ordered microporous carbons was performed with Ca2+ ion-exchanged Y and beta zeolites, where the conventionally used carbon source gases (e.g., ethylene and propylene) were replaced by various organic solvents, such as methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, acetone, tetrahydrofuran, and diisopropyl ether.

A series of novel N -[3-(2-benzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)-4-methylthiazol-2(3H)-ylidene] substituted benzamides (2a–k) were efficiently synthesized by heterocyclization of the corresponding 1-(benzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)-3-aroylthioureas (1a–k). The cyclization was achieved by the reaction of α-bromoacteone produced in situ using bromine in dry acetone in the presence of triethylamine.

For the first time, removal of oxygen atoms from allylic hydroperoxide functionality and reintroduction to the double bond was achieved using catalytic OsO4 and chiral cinchona alkaloid derivatives in an acetone–water mixture to give corresponding chiral 1/2,3-triol with an enantioselectivity up to 99% ee. The hydroperoxide group was used as both a co-oxidant and a source of hydroxyl groups.

A novel four component modified Biginelli reaction for the synthesis of C-2 functionalized dihydropyrimidines has been established. The approach uses assembly of less explored acetyl acetone with aromatic aldehyde, thiourea, and dimethyl sulphate to construct a novel 5-acetyl 2-methylthio dihydropyrimidine system, which works as an efficient well-designed intermediate for generating C-2 modified Biginelli libraries with nitrogen nucleophiles.

The strain Saccharomyces cerevisiae Bordeaux synthesized the most total aldehydes at a temperature of 24оС, while Saccharomyces cerevisiae 8-11 - at 28оС. Acetaldehyde, acetone and 2-butanone were identified in the experimental wines by gas chromatographic analysis. During the fermentation at a temperature of 20°C and 24°C, Saccharomyces cerevisiae Bordeaux produced more acetaldehyde, acetone and 2-butanone compared to 8-11. At 28°C Saccharomyces cerevisiae 8-11 produced more acetaldehyde and 2-butanone, 33.

This work involves a facile synthesis of three (S)-proline-based organocatalysts with C2 symmetry and their effects in enantioselective aldol reaction of acetone with substituted aromatic aldehydes. Moderate enantioselectivities (up to 61% ee) were obtained depending on the nature of the substituents on the aryl ring. Computational calculations at HF/6-31 + G(d) level were employed to underline the enantioselectivity imposed by all the organocatalysts.

Fibrous properties of rayon has been modified through synthesis of graft copolymers of rayon with acrylonitrile (AN) by chemical method using ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN/HNO3) as a redox initiator and gamma radiation mutual method. Percentage of grafting (Pg) was determined as a function of initiator concentration, monomer concentration, irradiation dose, temperature, time of reaction and the amount of water. Maximum percentage of grafting (160.01%) using CAN/HNO3 was obtained at [CAN] = 22.80 • 103 mol/L, [HNO3] = 112.68 • 102 mol/L and [AN] = 114.

Some compounds of -aminoketone type from benzylidene-(R)-anilines were synthesized by reaction between benzylideneanilines and methylketones (acetophenone, acetone) in the presence of hydrochloric acid as catalyst in the ethanol medium. The structure of obtained -aminoketones have been confirmed by using spectroscopic methods (IR-, 1 H- and 13 C-NMR, mass spectra). Their metallic corrosion inhibition properties also have been estimated on aluminum, copper and CT-3 steel using the immersion method.
