Four bacterial strains degraded chlorpyrifos, isolated from agricultural soil, were used as a source of bacteria to investigate their ability to decompose chlorpyrifos in mineral salt minimum and the soil. Barrientosimonas humi C4.3 was investigated for the decomposition of chlorpyrifos in this strain on different days (10, 20 and 30 days of culture) as supplemented and not supplemented TSB. At the same time, another experiment was carried out to evaluate the chlorpyrifos etherification of B. humi C4.3 and the four strains of Achromobacter xylosoxidans C3.1, B. humi C4.3, Microbacterium sp.

The role of air pollution in increasing susceptibility to respiratory tract infections in the cystic fibrosis (CF) population has not been well described. The objective of the present study was to identify protease producing bacteria isolated from food processing industries. Isolation of the organism was performed by serial dilution agar plate technique and initial screening of protease production was done using gelatine agar plates by flooded the plates with mercuric chloride solution (HgCl2-15g and 20 ml of 6.0 N HCl made up to 100 ml with distilled water). A total of 5 isolates were selected based on zone diameter in gelatine clear zone method and named as TKMFT8, TKMFT22, TKMFT25, TKMFT39 and TKMFT53.

A heterotrophic strain ACM-1, isolated from Pangasius spp fish farms showed an ability to convert ammonium to nitrate under aerobic conditions. Based on the molecular phylogenetic analysis 16S rRNA gene sequence ACM-1 matched similarity to Achromobacter xylosoxidans (100%).

Other Gram-Negative Bacteria Achromobacter xylosoxidans A. xylosoxidans (previously Alcaligenes xylosoxidans) is probably part of the endogenous intestinal flora and has been isolated from water sources. Immunocompromised hosts, including patients with cancer and post- chemotherapy neutropenia, cirrhosis, and chronic renal failure, are at increased risk. Nosocomial outbreaks of A. xylosoxidans infection have been attributed to contaminated fluids, and clinical illness has been associated with isolates from many sites, including blood (often in the setting of intravascular devices).
