In the present study, Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) were synthesized from Salvia officinalis and Thymus vulgaris, known as phytotherapy plants. The obtained silver nanoparticles were characterized using SEM, XRD, FTIR, and UV/Vis spectra. The antioxidant capacities of Salvia officinalis-mediated AgNP (SO-AgNP) and Thymus vulgaris-mediated AgNP (TV-AgNP) were analyzed in vitro using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl and iron chelating activity assays.

TiO2 and Fe-doped TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared by hydrothermal method in order to study the effect of ion doping (Fe) on enhancing photocatalytic activity of TiO2. The band gap, morphology and specific surface area of TiO2 and Fe-doped TiO2 were investigated by step-wise increasing Fe3+ concentrations from 0.05 to 1.00 wt.%.

The selective reduction of sulfur dioxide with carbon monoxide to elemental sulfur was studied over ACsupported transition-metal oxide catalysts. Catalyst samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction in order to relate the phase composition to the activation behavior and catalytic performance. The active phase of catalyst was detected as FeS2, and the formation of FeS2 was greatly dependent on the sulfidation temperature.

Optimization of the LiFePO4 cathode active material synthesis process in the hydrothermal method consists of many factors, including pH, carbon coating, particle size optimization, sintering and hydrothermal synthesis temperature. The main goal of this study is to determine the effect of particle size, pH and carbon coating on capacity and cycle performance. In this study, LiFePO4 cathode active materials were prepared at different pH (6.5 and 8.5) and temperature (160 and 180◦C) levels using the hydrothermal method.

Oxidation of bisphenol-A (BPA) was investigated using a sonophoto Fenton-like hybrid process under visible light irradiation in the presence of iron-containing perovskite LaFeO3 catalysts. For this purpose, firstly the perovskite catalyst (LaFeO3) was prepared by the sol-gel method and calcined at different temperatures (500, 700, and 800◦C). The prepared catalysts were characterized using XRD, SEM, FTIR, nitrogen adsorption, UV-vis DRS, and ICP/OES measurements.

A facile route was used for the fabrication of NdFeO3 (NF) perovskite. The orthorhombic structure of single phase nanocrystalline NdFeO3 perovskite was confirmed by different characterization techniques: XRD, FTIR, TEM, BET, SEM, and EDAX. The nanoperovskite was successfully used as a sensor component with a carbon paste electrode (CpE) for the determination of ketotifen in pharmaceutical formulations. Ketotifen, an antiallergic drug, is utilized for the treatment of asthma attacks, rhinitis, skin allergies, and anaphylaxis.

The arylation reaction of styrene was tested in the presence of different transition metal-based catalysts, mainly iron-based, given its low cost and its nonpolluting and nontoxic characteristics. The study of the effect of sonochemical activation on the evolution of the selectivity of the reaction is also proposed. Higher efficiency was observed for a very short period of time of just a few minutes. Furthermore, an improvement of the selectivity of the arylation of the external carbon of styrene was observed.

A rapid and selective iron-mediated reductive Claisen rearrangement of various prop-2’-enyloxyanthraquinones and 2’-chloroprop-2’-enyloxyanthraquinones to 1-hydroxy-2-(prop-2’-enyl)anthraquinones and anthrafurandiones is presented. All reactions are carried out in a mixture of ionic liquids, [Bzmim]Cl (1-benzyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride) and [Hmim]BF4 (1-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate), in short reaction times (5–35 min). Our study showed that 1-(prop-2’-enyloxy)anthraquinone is more active than 1-(2’-chloroprop-2’-enyloxy)anthraquinone to perform this rearrangement.
