Postpartum ovarian thrombosis is an uncommon condition. It appears with the nonspecific, predominantly right-sided abdominal symptoms and must be differentiated from other acute visceral conditions. If left untreated, postpartum ovarian thrombosis can have severe consequences, including sepsis, pulmonary embolism, and even death. Momentarily, there are no specific guidelines for postpartum ovarian thrombosis management.

Septic pulmonary embolism (SPE), deep vein thrombophlebitis (DVT), and acute osteomyelitis (AOM) form a triad that is rarely seen in children and is usually associated with a history of trauma on long bones. Unfortunately, a delay in diagnosis is frequently observed in this syndrome, which places the patient at risk of life-threatening complications.

The patient received intravenous antibiotics, antiviral medications, systemic corticosteroids and dual anticoagulation with aspirin and enoxaparin. Death outcome was reported on day 18 of illness despite aggressive supportive care. Histological analysis demonstrated that obstruction of the main pulmonary arthery and disseminated intravascular coagulation were the causes of death.

Acute venous thromboembolism (VTE), including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), is a common disorder with an annual incidence rate of 1-2 cases per 1000 persons. Health-related quality of life in patients after having DVT is impaired if not treated correctly.

Acute pulmonary embolism (APE) can be life-threatening. Early detection is even more difficult for patients under general anesthesia as common symptoms are not available and the pathophysiological course of intra-operative APE is influenced by procedures of surgery and anesthesia, which makes patients under general anesthesia a distinctive group.

There is limited real-world safety information on palbociclib for treatment of advanced stage HR+/ HER2- breast cancer. This real-world study found increased risks of several adverse events identified in clinical trials, including neutropenia, leukopenia, and thrombocytopenia, but no increased risk of serious infections or pulmonary embolism when comparing new users of palbociclib-fulvestrant to fulvestrant monotherapy.

A high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) concentration above the 99th percentile (i.e. 14 ng/L) is common during Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (AECOPD) and associated with increased mortality. The objective of the study was to identify factors associated with hs-cTnT levels during AECOPD.PD) and associated with increased mortality.

Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a long-term complication following an acute pulmonary embolism (PE). It is frequently diagnosed at advanced stages which is concerning as delayed treatment has important implications for favourable clinical outcome.

Rapid and accurate identification of right ventricular (RV) dysfunction is essential for decreasing mortality associated with acute pulmonary embolism (PE), particularly for non-high-risk patients without hypotension on admission. This study aimed to develop a rapid and accurate tool for predicting the risk of RV dysfunction in nonhigh-risk patients with acute PE.

To investigate if acute pulmonary vasodilation by sildenafl improves right ventricular function in patients with acute intermediate-high risk pulmonary embolism (PE). Methods: Single center, explorative trial. Patients with PE were randomized to a single oral dose of sildenafl 50 mg (n=10) or placebo (n=10) as add-on to conventional therapy. The time from hospital admission to study inclusion was 2.3±0.7 days.

The diagnosis of acute pulmonary embolism (PE) is one of the most challenging in emergency settings where prompt and accurate decisions need to be taken for life-saving purposes. Here, the assessment of the clinical probability of PE is a paramount step in its diagnosis.

These problems are caused, in part, by changes in lifestyle and demography (growing dependence on the private car, increase in one-person households, increasing resource use per capita). Solutions need to be forward-looking and militate against future risks such as the impacts of climate change (e.g. increased flooding) as well as contributing to national, regional and global policies such as progressively reducing dependency on fossil fuels.

There were no patients in whom water intoxication developed or who needed transfusions perioperatively. Bladder neck contracture, which developed three to four months postoperatively, was the most frequent complication (49 cases, 32.7%). Other complications included pubic osteitis (2 cases), bladder tamponade (2 case), acute epididymitis (3 case), pulmonary embolism (1 case), and rectourethral fistula (1 case). Erectile function was preserved after the first operation in 26 (60.5%) of the evaluated 38 sexually active patients.
