  • Liquid cultures have been commonly used in space, toxicology, and pharmacology studies of Caenorhabditis elegans. However, the knowledge about transcriptomic alterations caused by liquid cultivation remains limited. Moreover, the impact of different genotypes in rapid adaptive responses to environmental changes (e.g., liquid cultivation) is often overlooked. Here, we report the transcriptomic and phenotypic responses of laboratory N2 and the wild-isolate AB1 strains after culturing P0 worms on agar plates, F1 in liquid cultures, and F2 back on agar plates.

  • Mycoparasitism by Trichoderma sp. is one of the important modes of action exhibited by biocontrol agents against host fungi including plant pathogenic ones. Its study in-vitro constitutes considerable importance while studying bio-efficacy of an antagonist against a fungal pathogen. At present there is no standard, rapid, easy and reliable method to study mycelial interaction between a possible mycoparasitic fungi and host.

  • The experiments were conducted at Department of Plant Pathology, S.K.N. College of Agriculture, Jobner (Rajasthan). Five samples of blonde psyllium seeds were collected from Barmer, Nagaur, Pali, Jodhpur and Jalore districts of Rajasthan and tested for seed borne fungi. Both Blotter and Agar Plate methods were used to detect the maximum number of mcontrol and external seed borne fungi. A total of 5 species of fungi were identified using the two selective methods. The pathogencity of A. alternata was studied on psyllium seeds and seedlings.

  • The milk samples (Raw and Boiled) were collected from various vendors of Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana district. Three different samples of Pasteurized milk samples were taken from the market. These samples were evaluated for their quality by determining Standard Plate Count (SPC) and Coliform count. The bacterial colonies ranged from 0.7×104 cfu/ml to 6×106 cfu/ml in boiled milk. Methylene Blue reduction test (MBRT) had also been performed to check microbial quality of the samples and Sample 1 (both raw and boiled) was reported to be poor.
