Women from Asian and western countries have vastly different ages of onset of breast cancer, with the disease tending to occur at an older age in the West. Through an investigation of the patterns of old-onset breast cancer (OBC) in Korean women, we aimed to identify the characteristics of Korean OBC and evaluate whether these patterns are changing in relation to increasing westernization.

A non-parametric approach for detecting gene-gene interactions associated with age-at-onset outcomes
Cox-regression-based methods have been commonly used for the analyses of survival outcomes, such as age-at-disease-onset. These methods generally assume the hazard functions are proportional among various risk groups. However, such an assumption may not be valid in genetic association studies, especially when complex interactions are involved. In addition, genetic association studies commonly adopt case-control designs.

Cerebellar cortical degeneration (CCD) is an increasingly recognised neurodegenerative disease process affecting many dog breeds. Typical presentation consists of a progressive cerebellar ataxia, with a variable age at onset and rate of progression between different breeds.

Clinical management of women carrying a germline pathogenic variant (PV) in the BRCA1/2 genes demands for accurate age-dependent estimators of breast cancer (BC) risks, which were found to be affected by a variety of intrinsic and extrinsic factors.

Despite their nearly identical genomes, males and females differ in risk, incidence, prevalence, severity and age-at-onset of many diseases. Sexual dimorphism is also seen in human autosomal gene expression, and has largely been explored by examining the contribution of genotype-by-sex interactions to variation in gene expression.

To reduce costs of rearing replacement heifers, researchers have focused on decreasing age at breeding and first calving. To increase returns upon initiation of lactation the focus has been on increasing mammary development prior to onset of first lactation.

Axial spondyloarthritis (AxSpA) is a relatively frequent and debilitating disease, with a prevalence ranging from 0.1 to 2% in the Caucasian population. Current Assessment of Spondyloarthritis International Society (ASAS) classification criteria of AxSpA rely either on sacroiliitis on imaging plus one SpA feature or positive HLAB27 antigen plus two SpA features, in a patient with chronic low back pain and age at onset of less than 45 years.

An early age at Breast Cancer (BC) onset may be a hallmark of inherited predisposition, but BRCA1/2 mutations are only found in a minority of younger BC patients. Among the others, a fraction may carry mutations in rarer BC genes, such as TP53, STK11, CDH1 and PTEN.

To date, the contribution of BRCA1/2 mutations in Moroccan early onset breast cancer patients remains unknown. Here we assess these genetic alterations for the first time in a cohort from North of Morocco. Methods: Thirty-three patients diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of ≤40 years were recruited irrespective of breast and/or ovarian cancer family history.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines CAUTI for those patients who have an indwelling catheter in place for 48 h or more and symptoms such as fever or chills, new onset of burning pain, urgency or frequency if not catheterized at that point of time, change in urine character, flank or suprapubic pain or tenderness or change or decrease in mental or functional status in patients. CAUTI is usually presence of at least 10³ colony-forming units (cfu)/mL of 1 or 2 micro-organisms by urine culture.

The aim of the present research was to evaluate the potential of blood progesterone (P4) analysis for determination of puberty onset in Bulgarian Murrah buffalo heifers. The experiment was conducted with 13 clinically healthy buffalo heifers from the Bulgarian Murrah breed, at 9 to 20 months of age. Blood samples were collected from all animals and progesterone concentrations were assayed through a commercial ELISA. The time course of blood progesterone was monitored in ascending age order and the correlation between both parameters was evaluated.

The epidemic outbreak of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) was continuing specially from 2014 onwards and taking toll of pediatric age group distributed in different blocks of Gaya district of Bihar, India. In an extensive survey during outbreak (2016), a case of high fever history was diagnosed having Chandipura virus out of 24 acute fever cases admitted at Anugrah Narayan Memorial Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMMCH) Gaya. Off which nine cases were from Gaya district. The age group of affected cases was 1-15 years. Male were affected more than females (M:F::55.5:44.4).

The present study is undertaken to observe different stages of embryonic development of an Indian major carp, Labeo rohita of two different age groups (+2 and +3), kept under culture and hatchery conditions. The studies of embryonic and larval development provide the essential information regarding the early life history of the target species kept under experimentation. The main aim of this study is to provide information about the comparison of embryonic development of the same species with two different brooder age groups.

Heterozygous germline TP53 gene mutations result in Li-Fraumeni Syndrome (LFS). Breast cancer (BC) is the most frequent tumor in young women with LFS. An important issue related to BC in the Mexican population is the average age at diagnosis, which is approximately 11 years younger than that of patients in the United States (U.S.) and Europe.

Invasive urothelial carcinoma (iUC) is highly similar between dogs and humans in terms of pathologic presentation, molecular subtypes, response to treatment and age at onset. Thus, the dog is an established and relevant model for testing and development of targeted drugs benefiting both canine and human patients.

Very early onset of inflammatory bowel disease in a patient with long-segment hirschsprung’s disease
Hirschsprung’s disease (HSCR) is a congenital defect caused by impaired development of the enteric nervous system. Inflammatory bowel disease has an increased prevalence in patients with HSCR. We describe the clinical course of a patient with long-segment HSCR who, at the age of 12 months, developed diffuse intestinal inflammation most clinically consistent with very early onset inflammatory bowel disease.
