The study concluded that the germination index and Timson’s index were the best indices for the assessment of the germination performance compared to coefficient of velocity of germination, mean germination time, time to fifty percent germination and final germination percent.

Seed priming with antioxidants can help the seeds to retain their viability for much longer, as the major cause of seed deterioration in onion seed is the production of ROS which is produced as the age of seed increases leading seeds to loose viability. Therefore use of antioxidants may have potential to be cost effective mechanism for prolonging the storage life.

A laboratory experiment was conducted to predict the storability by accelerated ageing in onion in the Department of Seed Science and Technology, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, during 2018- 19. The experiment consisted of fifteen seed lots with varied levels of germination and it was laid out in CRD design with four replications. All seed lots were subjected to: standard germination test, electrical conductivity test, radicle emergence test, accelerated ageing test and field emergence test.

These investigations were conducted to study the influence of N and K drip fertigation along with boron foliar spray on growth, seed yield and seed quality of onion (Allium cepa L.). The experiments were carried out during two consecutive years (2014-15 and 2015-16) at experimental farm of Department of Seed Science and Technology, Dr. Y. S.
