  • The increasing penetration of ICT’S in agriculture scenario makes an opportunity to disseminate the useful information more widely among the farming community. These ICT’s are helping to meet the information needs of farmer. The present study was conducted with 120 farmers who got registered under Interactive Information and Dissemination System (IIDS) in two districts i.e. Nalgonda and Khammam Districts of Telangana State, India. The farmers were selected by random sampling method. The study used ex-post facto research design.

  • The present study was carried out in Warangal district of Telangana state by selecting the 60 beneficiary farmers of mobile phone based agro-advisory services. The specific objectives of the study were to know the usefulness and perception towards mobile phone based agro advisories. The results showed that 48.33 per cent of respondents indicated as mobile phone based agro-advisories were moderately useful and the majority (50.00%) of the respondents had positive perception towards the mobile phone based agro-advisories.

Weather varies with space and time; hence, its forecast can help to minimize the farm losses through proper management of agricultural operations. The complete avoidance of all farm losses due to weather factor is not possible but it can be minimized to some extent by making adjustments through timely and accurate information of weather forecast.

This ICT tool was designed and developed under a project awarded by Indian Council of Agricultural Research under National Agricultural Innovation Project (NAIP). The IIDS is now being up scaled in three states. It is a multi-platform and multi-mode application.

  • Agrometeorological Field Unit (AMFU) disseminating agromet advisory bulletin (AAB) are embraced three parts viz., weather condition, crop information and weather based agro advisories. This study enlightens the qualitative and quantitative aspect and gaps between providers and end users of AAB. The AAB issued by 7 AMFU stations was collected for the period 5 years (2007-2011) from IMD, Pune and SAU‟s of 7 states. The substantial variation in the format of issued AAB by all the stations was observed and formats are not found easily usable to print media, SMS through multimedia.

  • The study sought to identify the constraints faced by the farmers in using Kisan Mobile Advisory Services (KMAS) in Uttara Kananda district of Karnataka State, registered under http://mkisan.gov.in portal through ICARKrishi Vigyan Kendra, Uttara Kannada, Sirsi. Total of 110 respondents were selected for the study, 10 each from 11 talukas in the district. Factor analysis was used to identify the major constraints that lie inherent in the set of 10 specific constraints that were presented before the respondents for their rankings on a four-point continuum (0 to 3).

  • The study was conducted in Latur district of Marathwada region. Population for the study comprised of respondents who were subscriber of Mobile based agro- Advisory Services in Latur district. From latur district Latur, Ausa and Renapur tahsils were selected purposively because more number of farmers in these tahsils were using mobile based agro-advisory service. Proportionate sampling method used in selection of respondents, thus total sample size was one hundred and twenty respondents. One shot case study method of ex-post-facto research design was adopted for this study.

  • A study was conducted during year 2018-19 to know the productiveness and functionality of Agro-met Advisories Services (AAS) and measured by the social economics benefit by adopting it at Anand district which falls under the semi-arid zone of Gujarat state. For this analysis, two groups of farmers were selected namely, farmers who adopted the Agro-met Advisories Services regularly for their field operation and the other group of farmers who were unaware of Agro-met Advisories Services (Non-AAS farmers).
