Ebook "Aluminum stress adaptation in plants (Signaling and communication in plants, Volume 24)" is an overview of our current understanding of aluminium toxicity and tolerance in plants. It covers all relevant aspects from molecular and cellular biology, to genetic approaches, root biology and plant physiology. The contribution of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi to alleviating aluminium toxicity is also discussed. Over 40% of total agricultural land resources are acidic in nature, with aluminium being the major toxicant.

In this study, friction stir welding was employed to create a joint between pure copper 1100 and aluminum 1050 plates, each with a thickness of 5 mm. The fabricated results showed that a significant amount of copper was dispersed into the aluminum side to establish the bonding.

Aluminium (Al) toxicity is the major limiting factor of crop production in acidic soils. Most of the soils in North eastern region are acidic. In order to improve the crop production in acidic soil conditions, screening genotypes which are tolerant to aluminium induced stress would be immense importance.

A greenhouse experiment was conducted in completely randomized design with two levels of aluminium (0 and 0.25 cmol kg-1 ), four levels of phosphorus (0, 13.4, 26.8 and 40.2 mg kg-1 P2O5) and three levels of sulphur (0, 13.6 and 26.8 mg kg-1 S) at SASRD, Nagaland University Medziphema in kharif season of 2017- 18 and 2018-19 to study the treatment effect on germination, yield, chemical composition and nutrient uptake of french bean and soil properties.

For this study, different volume fraction (vol.%) of particulate alumina (Al2O3) reinforced aluminium alloy (Al 6061) with 5 vol.%, 15 vol.% and 25 vol.% are produced by powder metallurgy method. These samples were subjected to biaxial stresses in order to investigate the behaviour of the metal matrix composites (MMCs). Microstructure analysis on the individual sample before and after loading was performed under scanning electron microscopy. The small particles of 2 µm in size have exhibited strong interfacial bonding with the matrix.

Aluminium is one of the most abundant metals. This metal is responsible for inhibiting growth and productivity of many cultures thereby affecting the metabolism of most of the microbes. The current study is aimed at examining the effect of glucose addition on bacterial growth under aluminium stressed conditions. For this purpose, nutrient broth was supplemented with different concentration of aluminium viz. 0mM, 20mM, 60mM and 80mM. In addition to above heavy metal supplementation, the nutrient broth was additionally provided with varying concentration of glucose (0.25%, 0.5% and 1% glucose).

The impact of aluminium (Al) stress on the production of hydrogen peroxide and on the activity of antioxidant enzymes involved in oxidative metabolism, such as ascorbate peroxidase (APX), peroxidase (POD), and catalase (CAT), were studied in seedlings of 2 clover species (Trifolium alexandrinum L. and Medicago sativa L.).

The Von-Mises stress distribution and equivalent plastic strain (PEEQ) during cutting are then investigated. Finally, the evolution of cutting forces in cutting was examined. The presented Finite element model in this study proved to be useful in determination of cutting parameters, especially in high-speed machining.
