  • The study was carried out on 160 Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates. Samples had been cultured, identified and tested for sensitivity. A phenotypic test (Double disc synergy test) was applied on the collected MDR isolates for detection of MBL enzyme production. Conventional PCR was performed for the detection of the resistance gene(blaVIM). 100 isolates were multi-drug resistant according to (Modified Kirby Bauer disc diffusion method), with sensitivity to some drugs specially Amikacin (20%). Phenotypic test for MBL resulted in (38%) positive isolates and (62%) were negative ones.

  • Urinary tract infection (UTI) is one of the most common infection seen in clinical practice in all age groups. The UTI is most commonly caused by E.coli. There is emergence of multidrug resistant bacteria because of inadvertent use of antibiotics in treating these infections. The changing trend of pathogens and their antibiotic sensitivity the study has been undertaken, to determine the bacteria causing the UTI and find their antibiotic sensitivity. A total of 200 urine specimens showing the significant bacteriuria are studied. The midstream urine samples collected in a sterile container.

  • Staphylococcus aureus recently shows resistance to many Beta lactam antibiotics and Carbapenems. This study is focused on the incidence of MRSA in NICUs. Using Gram staining, blood culture and antibiotic sensitivity tests, MRSA can be identified. Septicemia is diagnosed not only by the isolation of the organism in blood culture. It should be correlated with total count, CRP like lab investigations and clinical features. Sometimes repeated blood culture is needed to confirm the diagnosis and to assess the prognosis.

  • Among other factors, infectious diseases are the real threat to the poultry development. Of the various infectious microorganisms Escherichia coli and Mycoplasma are of prime importance. These microorganisms persist for reasonably long periods in the flocks and there by lead to high economic losses through mortality, loss of weight and production. E. coli cannot readily infect the air sacs unless they are previously invaded by Mycoplasma gallisepticum alone or in combination of either infectious bronchitis or Newcastle disease virus.
