Antibodies against MAP

This study aimed to screen the sera of goats and sheep from flocks suspected of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) infection by a newly standardized Mce-truncated ELISA (Mt-ELISA) kit for the detection of antibodies against MAP. Four diagnostic applied tests were evaluated including Indigenous plate-ELISA (IP-ELISA), Mt-ELISA, fecal Polymerase Chain Reaction (f-PCR) and fecal culture (FC).

Present pilot study was the first attempt to estimate the prevalence of antibodies against Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP) in the goat population of Odisha. A total of 22 serum samples were collected from goats in and around Bhubaneswar, Odisha and subjected to indirect ELISA by indigenous ELISA (i_ELISA) kit for the detection of antibodies against MAP in the Microbiology Laboratory, Animal Health Division, CIRG, Makhdoom. An apparent prevalence 68.19% (15/22) was recorded by i_ELISA where the S/P ratio of the positive control was considered to be 1(100%).

Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) belongs to the serpin family of serine proteinase inhibitors. Serpins inhibit their target proteinases by an ester bond being formed between the active site serine of the proteinase and the P1 residue of the reactive centre loop (RCL) of the serpin, fol-lowed by insertion of the RCL intob-sheet A of the serpin. Concomitantly, there are conformational changes in the flexible joint region lateral tob-sheet A.
