Antibacterial packaging represents an active packaging solution crafted to uphold the quality and safety of products. One of the popular polymer used in food packaging is Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE), due to its low cost, ease of processing, and high mechanical properties. Polymer blend based on LLDPE and antibacterial agent PHMG were prepared in the presence of PE-g_AM compatibilizer and DCP initiator.

The aim of this research is to explore the application of natural biopolymer chitosan for the purpose of incorporating fragrance oil into automotive fabrics and its antimicrobial properties relevant to automotive interior textiles. Chitosan was selected for this study for its film forming ability and inherent antimicrobial attributes. 100% polyester automotive fabrics were used in this study, as 100% polyester is predominant fibre used for automotive interior textiles.

We produced and characterized copper(II)-chitosan complexes fabricated via in-situ precipitation as antibioticfree antibacterial biomaterials. Copper was bound to chitosan from a dilute acetic acid solution of chitosan and copper(II) chloride exploiting the ability of the polysaccharide to chelate metal ions.

Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (SP) and Staphylococcus aureus (SA) are common colonizers of companion animals, but they are also considered opportunistic pathogens, causing diseases of diverse severity. This study focused on the identification and characterization of 33 coagulase-positive staphylococci isolated from diseased pets (28 dogs and five cats) during 2009–2011 in a veterinary hospital in Spain in order to stablish the circulating lineages and their antimicrobial resistance profile.

Central venous catheters (CVCs) play an important role during cardiac surgery. Topical tissue adhesives form a thin film of coating that becomes bound to keratin in the epidermis. The advantage of this “super glue” lies in its antimicrobial activity. This study aimed to evaluate fixation of CVCs with topical tissue adhesive in patients (prone to bleed) undergoing cardiac surgery regarding its ability to reduce the incidence of pericatheter leakage.

Horseshoe crabs are ancient marine arthropods with a long evolutionary history extending back approximately 450 million years, which may benefit from their innate immune systems. However, the genetic mechanisms underlying their abilities of distinguishing and defending against invading microbes are still unclear.

Biofilm is an aggregate of microorganisms forming multicellular communities where cells are stuck cooperatively by a produced by oneself Matrix Extracellularis. Biofilm formation by microorganisms is a ubiquitous, omnipresent & active mechanism. This vigorous ability of microbes to form biofilms proves to be a key technique for resisting and surviving in adverse climatic conditions as well as antibacterial compounds. Numerous features of biofilms contributed by component of extracellular matrix and microbial community allows in tolerating adverse conditions.

Bacterial Blight of Soybean is caused by the bacterial agent Pseudomonas syringae pv. glycinea. It attacks all of the above-ground parts of soybean. Use of agrochemicals, pesticides and phytochemicals leads the deterioration of soil health, degradation of agroecosystems and environment pollution. Chitosan NPs have been investigated as a carrier for active ingredient delivery for various applications due to their biocompatibility, biodegradability, high permeability, cost-effectiveness, non-toxicity and excellent film forming ability, antimicrobial and insecticidal activities.

Acinetobacter baumannii has emerged as a highly troublesome pathogen for many institutions globally. As a consequence of its immense ability to acquire or upregulate antibiotic drug resistance determinants, it has justifiably been propelled to the forefront of scientific attention. The clinical specimens over a period of 3 years (January 2014 to December 2016) were analyzed and the A. baumannii isolates obtained by an automated identification system (Vitek 2 Compact) were segregated for further study.

Snake bite is a major public health concern which can cause bacterial infection along with envenomation. The infection may be due to the bacteria present in mouth of venomous or nonvenomous snake which may contaminate the bite site during biting. In the present study coagulase negative Staphylococcus species from the oral cavity of two Indian cobras were isolated and identified and were screened for its biofilm forming ability using bentonite clay as a substrate.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), also known as host defense peptides, are short and generally positively charged peptides found in a wide variety of life forms from microorganisms to humans. Most AMPs have the ability to kill microbial pathogens directly, whereas others act indirectly by modulating the host defense systems. Against a background of rapidly increasing resistance development to conventional antibiotics all over the world, efforts to bring AMPs into clinical use are accelerating.

Bio-active compounds are of high aesthetic value in pharmaceutical industries but they are not widely explored. These compounds derived from plant, fungi and bacteria cannot really satisfy even a small fraction of the existing demand of the growing population day by day. In recent years, there is a great deal of attention towards cyanobacteria as they are a vast reserve of bioactive molecules with wide pharmaceutical importance.

Coagulase negative Staphylococcus (CONS), once considered as a commensal has now evolved as a major infectious pathogen with biofilm forming ability. This study was conducted to identify the antibiotic resistance pattern of varied CONS species in association with its biofilm forming ability. CONS isolated from various clinical samples were speciated. Their antimicrobial resistant pattern and biofilm producing ability were studied and analyzed. 7.98% of our clinical isolates were CONS, with 21.52% of them being Methicillin resistant (MR-CONS) and 78.48% were Methicillin sensitive (MSCONS).
