In this study an optimal weather routing model (OWR) considers the meteorological and oceanographic information, ship’s characteristics combined with adaptive Bacterial Foraging Optimization Algorithm will be proposed and applied for ship’ navigation. The simulation results will be presented to show the effectiveness as well as the reliability of this model. The OWR will make it possible for safe navigation, effective operation, energy efficiency and reduce emission from vessel.

In this paper, we introduce a novel simulation-based optimization method, CMAESEP, which couples the Covariance Matrix Adaptation Evolution Strategy Optimization Algorithm and the Epanet hydraulic simulator for optimal designing water distribution networks. The proposed method is applied to the published benchmark water network of Hanoi.

This paper presents a solution to the power balance control strategy for WSN with collaborating heuristic. A distance between the weight factors and obtained nodes interference value is used to establish a useful interference model for enhancing the signal-to-interference-noise ratio (SINR). The utility function of the nodes residual energy and transmission rate is modeled by apply heuristic strategy. The optimal transmission power is obtained after several iterations of the heuristic algorithm.

The 2D symmetric model of EPR with the electromagnetic force calculated was imported into Simplorer software to simulate the dynamic response of the EPR based on the influence of plug shape. The shape of plug in the EPR was changed through the dimension parameters denoted by dimension (h) and slope angle (α). The simulation results show that the electromagnetic force and dynamic response of the EPR can be optimized when h and α are selected at 3mm and 480, respectively.

This paper presents an inverse method for finding quantity of heat sources in high speed spindle. A commercial ANSYS software and Conjugate Gradient optimization method are used to construct the proposed inverse method. Simulations for different number of measurementpoints andlocations are performed. These results show that excellent estimation on heat generation can be obtained through using only two measurement points. The current methodology will provide a useful tool to investigate the complex heat transfer process in the high speed spindle.

This article presents a highly important and detailed techno-economic analysis of a grid-connected wind farm, considered as one of the most potential location in the south of Albania, part of Tepelena region, Mamaj village. The procedure of selection of the wind turbine type is performed by evaluating the maximum Capacity Factor (CF) among 15 different types of wind turbines applied using WAsP energy tool enabling the optimization of energy system while economic analysis uses a Monte Carlo simulation well designed on RETScreen Expert tool.

In this article, two new metaheuristic optimization techniques, namely, crow search algorithm and re y algorithm are applied to the well placement optimization problem and their applications to maximize the net pro t value are studied. To study the performance of the re y and crow search algorithm, Eclipse and MATLAB environment are used . The proposed techniques are compared to popular established methods for optimizing well placement. Results show that the re y algorithm is proved to be e cient and e ective compared to other established techniques.

The paper analyzes and determines the optimal parameters of tuned mass damper to reduce torsional vibration for the machine shaft. The research steps are as follows. First, the optimal parameters of tuned mass damper for the shafts are given by using the maximization of equivalent viscous resistance method. Second, a numerical simulation is performed for configuration of machine shaft to validate the effectiveness of the obtained analytical results. The simulation results indicate that the proposed method significantly increases the effectiveness of torsional vibration reduction.

According to the drilling program approved for Hai Thach field, the drilling section below the 16” casing liner (14.85” internal diameter) will be carried out by two separate BHAs: first drilling the 12.25” section by PDC bit to the section target, then under-reaming the wellbore to 14.5” and 16.5” diameter in order to run 13.625” casing string. Using two separate BHAs for reaming the wellbore certainly leads to a time increase in the run in hole (RIH) and pull out of the hole (POOH) of the drill-string and hence the associated costs such as rig and other related third party services.

An optimization-simulation strategy has been applied by coupling a commercial process simulator (Aspen HYSYS ) with a programming tool (MATLAB ) to produce a precise steady state simulationbased optimization of a whole green-field saturated gas plant as a real case study. The plant has more than 100-components and comprises interacting three-phase fractionation towers, pumps, compressors and exchangers. The literature predominantly uses this coupling to optimize individual units at small scales, while paying more attention to optimizing discrete design decisions.

Based on a thing that it is difficult to choose the parameters of active disturbance rejection control for the non-linear ALSTOM gasifier, multi-objective optimization algorithm is applied in the choose of parameters. Simulation results show that performance tests in load change and coal quality change achieve better dynamic responses and larger scales of rejecting coal quality disturbances. The study provides an alternative to choose parameters for othe r control schemes of the ALSTOM gasifier.
