  • Building the automatic answer-question model is being researched by computer scientists. Due to the convenience and new technology trend of automatic communication, with the desire to make computers (especially smartphones) closer to humans, so creating an answer-question system that operates effectively is a necessary demand, especially, the natural answer of the system is more and more concern.

  • End-to-end models have significant potential in most languages and recently proved their robustness in ASR tasks. Many robust architectures are proposed, and among many techniques, Recurrent Neural Network – Transducer (RNN-T) shows remarkable success. However, with background noise or reverb in spontaneous speech, this architecture generally suffers from high deletion error problems.

  • Recent years have witnessed the strong growth of Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) studies due to its wide range of applications. However, there are few efforts put into the Vietnamese language. This paper introduces an end-to-end approach using Conformer, a combination of Transfomer and Convolution Neural Network, and pseudo labeling for Vietnamese ASR systems.

  • In this paper, we build a model to evaluate and select an effective and reasonable set of semantic labels from 3 commonly used sets of semantic labels: LLOCE (Longman Lexicon of Contemporary English), LDOCE (Longman Dictionary) of Contemporary English) and WordNet. And then, select the appropriate set of labels, apply it to automatic semantic labeling systems for Vietnamese, help eliminate semantic ambiguity, and support automatic translation, automatic question-and-answer systems efficiently.

  • Isotopic tracer analysis by mass spectrometry is a core technique for the study of metabolism. Isotopically labeled atoms from substrates, such as [13C]-labeled glucose, can be traced by their incorporation over time into specific metabolic products. Mass spectrometry is often used for the detection and differentiation of the isotopologues of each metabolite of interest.

  • Aging is characterized by a gradual breakdown of cellular structures. Nuclear abnormality is a hallmark of progeria in human. Analysis of age-dependent nuclear morphological changes in Caenorhabditis elegans is of great value to aging research, and this calls for an automatic image processing method that is suitable for both normal and abnormal structures.

  • Because of its non-destructive nature, label-free imaging is an important strategy for studying biological processes. However, routine microscopic techniques like phase contrast or DIC suffer from shadow-cast artifacts making automatic segmentation challenging.

  • The Constituent Likelihood Automatic Word-tagging System (CLAWS) was originally designed for the low-level grammatical analysis of the million-word LOB Corpus of English text samples. CLAWS does not attempt a full parse, but uses a firat-order Markov model of language to assign word-class labels to words. CLAWS can be modified to detect grammatical errors, essentially by flagging unlikely word-class transitions in the input text.

  • We describe a set of experiments using automatically labelled data to train supervised classifiers for multi-class emotion detection in Twitter messages with no manual intervention. By cross-validating between models trained on different labellings for the same six basic emotion classes, and testing on manually labelled data, we conclude that the method is suitable for some emotions (happiness, sadness and anger) but less able to distinguish others; and that different labelling conventions are more suitable for some emotions than others. ...

  • We address the task of automatically predicting if summarization system performance will be good or bad based on features derived directly from either single- or multi-document inputs. Our labelled corpus for the task is composed of data from large scale evaluations completed over the span of several years. The variation of data between years allows for a comprehensive analysis of the robustness of features, but poses a challenge for building a combined corpus which can be used for training and testing.

  • Large scale annotated corpora are prerequisite to developing high-performance semantic role labeling systems. Unfortunately, such corpora are expensive to produce, limited in size, and may not be representative. Our work aims to reduce the annotation effort involved in creating resources for semantic role labeling via semi-supervised learning. Our algorithm augments a small number of manually labeled instances with unlabeled examples whose roles are inferred automatically via annotation projection. We formulate the projection task as a generalization of the linear assignment problem....

  • We present a classifier to predict contextual polarity of subjective phrases in a sentence. Our approach features lexical scoring derived from the Dictionary of Affect in Language (DAL) and extended through WordNet, allowing us to automatically score the vast majority of words in our input avoiding the need for manual labeling. We augment lexical scoring with n-gram analysis to capture the effect of context. We combine DAL scores with syntactic constituents and then extract ngrams of constituents from all sentences. ...

  • Current Named Entity Recognition systems suffer from the lack of hand-tagged data as well as degradation when moving to other domain. This paper explores two aspects: the automatic generation of gazetteer lists from unlabeled data; and the building of a Named Entity Recognition system with labeled and unlabeled data.

  • ENERGY STAR labeled office equipment reduces energy use primarily through power management (PM), in which equipment is factory-enabled to automatically turn off or enter low power (any power level between off and on) after some period of inactivity, usually 15 or 30 minutes. Most office equipment is idle more often than it is active; among equipment that users tend to leave on when not in use, such as shared and networked devices, PM can save significant energy. ENERGY STAR devices have a large market share, but the percentage that actually power...

  • This paper presents an algorithm for learning the probabilities of optional phonological rules from corpora. The algorithm is based on using a speech recognition system to discover the surface pronunciations of words in spe.ech corpora; using an automatic system obviates expensive phonetic labeling by hand. We describe the details of our algorithm and show the probabilities the system has learned for ten common phonological rules which model reductions and coarticulation effects.

  • We present a technique for automatic induction of slot annotations for subcategorization frames, based on induction of hidden classes in the EM framework of statistical estimation. The models are empirically evalutated by a general decision test. Induction of slot labeling for subcategorization frames is accomplished by a further application of EM, and applied experimentally on frame observations derived from parsing large corpora. We outline an interpretation of the learned representations as theoretical-linguistic decompositional lexical entries. ...
