Important ornamental houseplant genera, Dieffenbachia are attacked by different biotic and meso-biotic agents as recorded from different parts of the world including India. They are attacked by 5 fungal, 3 bacterial, 6 viral and 2 important nematode diseases. Relevant comprehensive compilations based on several research and literature findings of those diseases are made to present the significant importance of each and every disease in respect of various viewpoints such as geographical distribution of the disease, symptoms and its causal pathogen, epidemiology and management.

Cotton is one of the principal commercial crop and it is the back bone of national economy of our country. Cotton remains the most miraculous fiber and is still nature’s wonder fiber. Cotton is grown all around the globe, and is traded internationally as well. The production is influenced by the repeated out breaks of pest and diseases and these are the major factors responsible for lower yield of cotton in India.

Sunflower is an important major oilseed crop ranks next to groundnut and soybean at global level. It belongs to the family Asteraceae and mostly infected by several fungal, bacterial and viral diseases among which leaf spot and blight caused by Alternaria helianthi was considered as one of the most destructive diseases in the sunflower growing areas. An experiment was studied to determine the disease incidence and intensity of the disease in both Kharif and Rabi season (2018-19) by observing the plant raised in field.

Pomegranate (Punica granatum L) is one of the important fruit crops grown in India. Leaf spot of pomegranate caused by Alternaria alternata (Fr.) Keissler has becoming a major limiting factor in cultivation of pomegranate in some regions of India. The present investigation was carried out to test the efficacy of bio-agents and botanicals in vitro. All the seven fungal and two bacterial antagonists tested, exhibited significant mycelial growth inhibition of A. alternata. However, T. viride recorded significantly highest mycelial growth inhibition (86.

Biotic and abiotic stresses are major constraints in the production of groundnut. Among biotic stresses apart from bacterial and viral diseases, many fungal diseases are of economic importance. The major fungal diseases are Early leaf spot (Cercospora arachidicola), Late leaf spot (Cercosporidium personatum), Rust (Puccinia arachidis), Botrytis blight (Botrytis cinera), Aflarot/Yellow mould (Aspergillus flavus), Damping off (Pythium spp.

The betel vine crop is attacked by a number of fungal and bacterial pathogens and they cause many types of diseases to the plant. Among the bacterial diseases, leaf spot is more common in newly planted crop and baroj. Incidence of bacterial leaf spot and stem rot incited by Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. betlicola and Pseudomonas betle are common in all the cultivated varieties.

Green gram bacterial leaf spot pathogen X. axonopodis pv. vignaeradiatae was isolated from diseased samples collected from different locations of Udaipur district. The pathogenicity was proved on one month old green gram plants of cv. SML-668 and isolate Xav-02 (Bhatewar) was found more virulent with 4 days incubation period and require 12 days for disease development. Initially dark brown water soaked spots were found on cotyledons and then appeared on leaves and stem of seedlings. On leaves, irregular dark brown raised necrotic spots were developed with shot holes.

Bacterial leaf spot bacterium (Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. vignaeradiatae) of green gram caused considerable damage every year during Kharif season and sometimes become very severe, which results in heavy loss in grain yield. The maximum mean per cent disease index was observed in Vallabhnagar followed by Kotra, Mavli, Jhadol, Gogunda, Salumber Tehsil and least percent disease index was observed at Kherwara Tehsil of Udaipur districts during surveys in the years i.e. 2013 and 2014.The per cent disease index varied from 07.56 - 32.60 and 08.56 - 29.42 in the years 2013 and 2014, respectively.

Bottlegourd is prone to various fungal, bacterial and viral diseases. Among various fungal diseases, anthracnose, downy mildew and cercospora leaf spot are prevalent in different bottlegourd growing areas. Anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum lagenarium (Pass) Ellis. and Halsted is of major economic importance. The pathogen is seed borne in nature but initiation as well as spread of disease largely depends upon the environmental factors. This disease is widespread under both greenhouse and field cultivation resulting in poor fruit quality and yield.

Survey for the pomegranate plantation and prevalence of foliar diseases was conducted in different villages of Tharad, Deodar and Bhabhar talukas of Banaskantha district of Gujarat state during 2017 and 2018. It was assessed that the intensity of foliar diseases of pomegranate was recorded severe in Bhabhar talukas, followed by Deodar and Tharad talukas. The maximum incidence of leaf spot (14.10%) and fruit spot (13.81%) was recorded in Bhabhar taluka.

Sigatoka leaf spot disease appeared in low to moderate form. The disease appeared severe form in Echagahally on Nanjanagudu Rasabale (56.76%). Freckle leaf spot appeared in low to moderate form. Incidence of Fusarium wilt ranged from 0.0 to 6.0% in Sept-October 2016, 0.0-2.86% in February 2017, 0.0-25.86% in August-September 2017 and 0.0-10.00% in December 2017- Jan 2018.

Rice (OryzasativaL.) is an important cereal crop belonging to the family Poaceae and has two cultivated and 22 wild species. The cultivated species are Oryza sativa and Oryzaglaberrima. Oryza sativa is grown all over the world. Rice is known to suffer from number of diseases caused by fungal, bacterial and viral origins. Identification of resistant genotypes is again an essential continuous process either to recommend for cultivation in endemic area or to use as donors of the resistant genes.

Xanthomonas campestrispv.vitians is a Gram-negative plant-associated bacterium that acts as causative agent of bacterial leaf spot and headrot in lettuce. The lipopolysac-charide of this bacterium is suspected to be an important molecule for adhesion to and infection of the plants. The lipopolysaccharide has been isolated from the phenol phase and the O-specific chain characterized by compositional analysis, high fieldNMRandMALDI-TOFMS.
